Not to quibble, but Todd Smolinsky was QB1 during 2009, Corey Ernst’s sophomore year. I’m pretty sure he started every game. Corey got a lot of varsity playing time, and Coach Beck often prohibits his QB2 from playing JV games (He did that to Todd in 2008). He may have only played varsity during 2009, but he wasn’t the starting quarterback.

Correction, you state in Paragraph 6 that “District 1′s only state championship since Neshaminy’s 2001 triumph over highly touted Woodland Hills belonged to then-AA and Pioneer Athletic Conference rep Lansdale Catholic.”

As you point out later in the article, NP won the Quad A title in 2003, so NP and LC are the two most recent D1 champs.

Great job with the championship game previews! I have spent the last week solid ferreting out the various historical information about the past 23 state championships, district, league, and team participation, winners-losers, etc. I should have just waited for you! As you have pointed out,a sweep of all four championships by East (once) or West (never) is a rare occurance, and our Eastern side certainly can’t “book it,” yet. These look to be four great games coming.
