Offensive Player of the Week

Tyseer Denmark – Roman Catholic – Soph. – WR/MP

Denmark is rapidly turning into one of the elite playmakers in the area. His ascend continued this past Friday in Roman’s, 44-16, handling of Penn Charter. Displaying a mix of acrobatic catches and shiftiness once the ball was in hands, Denmark totaled three scores in the game. All total, he made six receptions for 89 yards (TDs of 5 & 8 yards). He also carried thrice for 51 yards; including a 46-yard sprint to paydirt. On special teams, he added a pair of punt returns for 49 yards and mixed in a 2-point conversion run. Overall, Denmark’s 11 touches accumulated 189 all-purpose yards.

Defensive Player of the Week

Frank DiDio – Cardinal O’Hara – Sr. – DB

DiDio twice thwarted potential scoring drives with interceptions in the Lions’, 21-0, the whitewashing of Lansdale Catholic. His first pick stymied a Crusaders drive with the score still, 7-0. O’Hara went on to score their second touchdown after this pilfer. Later, he cemented the game with another pick and a subsequent 47-yard touchdown return with 9:10 left in the game. DiDio added three tackles and scored another touchdown with an 11-yard reception to get his team on the scoreboard late in the first quarter.

Special Teams Player of the Week

Santiago Sturla – LaSalle College HS – Sr. – K/P

Sturla is once again proving to be one of the more steady and reliable kickers in the area. In the Explorers’ 38-14 victory over McDonogh (MD) he was perfect on PATs going 5-for-5 and nailed a 29-yard field goal. He also punted once for forty-two yards and launched two kickoffs for touchbacks. Sturla is a weapon for LaSalle and he should be counted on heavily in a rugged PCL Red division that is set to start this coming weekend.
