Hi, Buddy, I agree with you on both points. It would have been a very close game without the turnovers and, yes, turnovers are a part of the game. Sometimes they go your way, sometimes they don’t — but when they happen, they usually determine the winner.

Still, North Allegheny played a good game on that particular day, and La Salle didn’t. When the clock hits all zeroes, that’s all that really matters.

Would have been a totally different game if it wasn’t for the turnovers. But that’s part of the game I suppose.

North Allegheny played a smart, flawless game and controlled the line of scrimmage almost throughout — and that is always a winning combination. They had the size advantage and used it well.

Also, if it weren’t for Alex Papson, who apparently had an incredible season until his collarbone injury, Steinbeck would have been hogging the headlines. He is a big, strong, bruising running back. Even La Salle’s linebackers had trouble bringing him down. Impressive.

While the Tigers forced a number of La Salle mistakes, it was disappointing that the Explorers made it even tougher on themselves by committing so many unforced mistakes. North Allegheny is too good a team to have so many lapses against, and the Tigers took full advantage.

Congratulations to North Allegheny, a deserving state champ. And congrats to La Salle for seemingly willing themselves to back-to-back title game appearances. Much to be proud of in both programs.

Why didn’t LaSalle have those turnovers against NP? That’s the reason they lost. Oh well.
