West Catholic’s offense tops 60 points…..again

Through the first six weeks of the season, the West Catholic Burr offense had scored 236 points.  Not bad, but you knew at some point this team was just going to explode.

Well, they’ve done it.  West Catholic routed Kennedy-Kenrick 63-21, to advance to 8-1 on the season.  West Catholic is ranked among the top-5 teams in “AA” in some statewide polls.

In the last three weeks, the Burrs have topped the 60-point plateau each game, and scored 189 points, giving the heavily-favored PCL “AA” reps an impressive season total of 425 points scored.

WC is not the East’s leading scoring offense – that title belongs to York-William Penn, which has now scored 481 points through nine weeks (53.4 ppg) following the Bearcats’ 32-27 victory against Southwestern.

West Catholic, which now averages 47.2 points per game, is just 19 points from topping its 2007 season total for points scored.  The Burrs scored a PCL-best 444 points a season ago, an average of 37 points per contest.

The record for most points scored by a PCL team in a season belongs to the Archbishop Carroll juggernaut of 2000, which scored 584 points in 13 games.  At that time, PCL teams were not affiliated with the PIAA, and therefore were limited to, at most, a 13-game schedule.
