Our Player of the Week on defense is Shikellamy’s Sean Turber. Last week against Loyalsock he had three interceptions to help the Braves in a 16-14 win. He had 11 tackles in the game and blocked a potential game winning 27 yard field goal with three seconds remaining. On offense he had 135 yards receiving and one touchdown and threw a 40-yard touchdown pass.

In just six games this season (missed two games due to injury) he has nine interceptions and one fumble recovery on defense.

On offense he has rushed for 502 yards and seven touchdowns and 440 yards receiving and three touchdowns and passed for 116 yards and two touchdowns.

He had a punt return for a score.

“Shawn has great instincts in the defensive backfield and is a solid tackler. He really improved his speed over the summer and has been our playmaker on both sides of the ball,” said head coach Todd Tilford. “Shawn is a leader on our football team and in the school, as he also excels in the classroom. His all around performance last Friday ranks up there as one of the best I’ve seen, and I couldn’t be happier for Shawn and the rest of our seniors.”

Tamaqua’s Bud Moyer is our top tackler last weekend. He had 19 total tackles against Blue Mountain.

We have three players that had three fumble recoveries. They are Southern Columbia’s Austin Knepp, Wissahickon’s Mike Schoenleber and Northern York’s Owen Blaschak.

Abington Heights Collin McCreary had the longest fumble return for a touchdown. He went 95 yards for the score.

We have two players that intercepted a pass and took it 81 yards for the score. They are Academy Park’s Jawan Collins and Harrisburg’s Jerey Anderson.
