Week 4 notes:

Prayers go out to the Pocono Mountain East community and football team.  Quarterback Steve Dienno and fullback Justin Bullock along with PME student Michael Kenosky were in a serious car accident Tuesday night.  For more information please go to Poconorecord.com

Pine Grove’s Ryan Heim rushed for 297 yards and 2 td’s in a 21-13 win over Upper Dauphin last week to keep the Cardinals unbeaten at 4-0.  Heim’s 297 yards falls short of the school record of 336 yards held by Nick Frantz.  Frantz, who had three 1,500 yard plus rushing seasons (2001-03) set the record against Upper Dauphin in 2002.  Heim joins the chart with his 731 yards rushing this year and 1,944 yards for his career.

Catasauqua senior, Ra’Von Burton rushed for 221 yards and 3 td’s vs Salisbury to up his season totals to 702 yards rushing and 10 td’s.  Burton now needs 75 yards to enter the “3,000 yard” club for his career.  Jordan Gray of Nazareth has 2,952 career rushing yards and needs 48 yards to also join the club.

Cole Barnhardt of Williams Valley now has 30 career td’s.

Mahanoy Area QB, Dylan Mahmod rushed for 232 yards, scored 5 td’s, threw for 146 yards and 2 td passes in a 53-28 win over Tamaqua.  Mahmod continues to lead the District with 933 yards rushing and 15 td’s while leading the Golden Bears to a 4-0 record.

Freshman Darion Jacoby of Pottsville went over 100 yard rushing (116) for the second week in a row.

Jr. Hunter Harner of Tri-Valley has rushed for over 100 yards in all 4 games this year and now has 611 for the season.

Shane Simpson of Easton scored his 30th career td against Central Catholic.

Jim Thorpe’s Deonte St. Hill rushed for 219 yards and scored 3 td’s in a win over Panther Valley.  Gray, Burton and Niko Petrone of ESS are all now in the top 100 for career rushing yards in the District.  NOTE: Mahmod is 2nd in the State with his 933 yards and is the State leader with 15 td’s.

Sr. Zack Bradley of Catasauqua needs 98 yards passing to join the “3000 yard” club.  Stephen Sedesse of Williams Valley threw for 269 yards and 4 td passes in a 39-2 win over Line Mountain.  Sedesse leads the District with 851 yards passing and 13 td passes as the Vikings improved to 4-0.  Nick Cook of Northampton now has 20 career td passes. Luke Hohenstein of Pocono Mountain East threw for 253 yards in his first varsity start to break the school record.  Hohenstein along with Justin Bullock’s 3 td’s led the Cardinals past previously unbeaten Quakertown 49-28.  Matt Delgiudice held the old record when he threw for 240 yards in a game in 1997.  Brandon Leap of Pleasant Valley is now in the top 100 for District 11 career passing yards.   NOTE: Sedesse is 9th with his yardage and 4th in td passes in the State.

Cody Miller of Williams Valley caught 9 passes for 175 and 2 td’s last week.  Miller leads the District with his 476 receiving yards and 9 td catches (19 total catches).

Paryss Marshall of Catasauqua leads the District with 20 receptions.

Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh now needs 2 catches to join the “100 catch” club.

Glenn Weist caught 2 td passes covering 64 & 55 yards from Bobby Grigas to improve North Schuylkill’s record to 3-1.

KJ Williams of Liberty just cracked the top 25 all-time in the District for career receiving yards with 1,798.  Here are the players he just went by that have over 1,700 yards in their career’s:  Justin Scerbo (Wilson), Bob Frederick (Allen), Joel Rupp (Dieruff), Tyler Artim (Whitehall), Josh Hontz (Jim Thorpe), John Gardus (Salisbury) and Billy Krebs (Bethlehem Catholic).  Priore and Marshall both cracked the top 100 in career receiving yardage.  NOTE: Miller leads the State with his 9 td catches.

THE PRESENT AND THE PAST: Congratulations to Bloomsburg’s Franklin Quiteh for breaking the PSAC career rushing record 2 weeks ago.  Quiteh, formally of Pocono Mountain West, is now in 15th place all-time for Division 2 runningbacks with 5,911 yards.  The PSAC record was previously held by former Huskie and Neshaminy high school’s Jamar Brittingham.  Quiteh has now rushed for 100 yards or more in 20 consecutive games and is also the only District 11 runningback to have three consecutive 300 yard rushing games in high school.
