Week 13 notes:
RUSHING:  Kareem Williams of Parkland ran for 309 yards and 4 td’s last week against Easton.  Williams now has 1,830 yards and 23 td’s on the season.  More on Kareem in the “Past and Present” section.  Schuylkill Haven’s junior runningback William Casella ran for 344 yards and 6 td’s against Bristol last week while teammate Ryan Fink ran for 222 yards and 2 td’s.  Casella now has 2,153 yards and 34 td’s on the season.  He joined the “4,000 yard” club and now has 4,052 yards and 52 career td’s.  Casella’s single season yardage places him in 4th at the school behind Zach Barket’s junior/senior seasons and Buddy Fegley.  His td’s moves him ahead of Fegley’s 32 td’s in 1998 and is now in 2nd behind Barket’s State record 66 td’s that he had in 2008.  Fink has 1,353 yards and 18 td’s on the year.  Schuylkill Haven will play Old Forge next.  Old Forge knocked off undefeated Southern Columbia last week.  Michael McDaniel of Bethlehem Catholic finished the season with 26 td’s.  That puts him in a 3rd place tie for a single season at the school with Tim Barlok.  Barlok had 26 td’s in 1998.  Easton’s two 1,000 yard rushers Shane Simpson and Kyle Bambary will face off against P’burg’s 1,000 yard rusher Joe Maso.  Maso has 1,335 yards this year placing him in 5th all-time for a single season at P’Burg.  He just went by Joe Luke and Art Wright and is now 48 yards behind Leonard Moore.  NOTE: Casella is tied for 4th in the State with 34 td’s.

PASSING:  Catasauqua’s Zack Bradley threw for 260 yards and another 5 td’s last week.  Bradley, who has a minimum of 2 games left, clinched the District title for both passing yards (2,607) and td passes (41).  Bradley’s career totals are now 4,827 yards and 72 td passes.  His yardage moves him by Brandon Leap (PL. V), Jeff Krisiak (PMW), Robbie Moyer (ESS) and Tom Silvius (Naz).  The 72 td passes places him 5th all-time in the District moving ahead of Wilson’s DJ Lenehan who had 71 from 2003-06.  Sophomore Julian Spigner of Bethlehem Catholic finished the year with 1,548 yards passing and 18 td passes.  His 1,548 yards moves him ahead of Steve Hunsberger and into 10th place all-time at Beca for a single season.  Hunsberger threw for 1,535 yards as a junior in 1998.  His 18 td passes ties him with Hunsberger and Mark Borda (2001) for 7th place all-time at Beca.  NOTE: Bradley is currently 1st in the State with 41 td passes.
RECEIVING:  Catasauqua’s Paryss Marshall caught 6 passes for 164 yards and 3 td’s last week to up his season totals to 68 catches for 1,361 yards and 19 td’s.  All 3 totals are the highest ever by a Colonial League player.  Wilson’s Zach Bogoly had the highest totals when he caught 67 catches for 1,292 yards and 14 td’s in 10 games last year.  The 1,361 yards is the 2nd highest ever in the District behind Central Catholic’s Kevin Gulyas 2,031 yards in 2011.  It also moves him by P’Burg’s Mike Lelko who had 1,353 yards in 1995.   Marshall is now tied for 3rd all-time in the league with Jeff Smillie of Southern Lehigh with 116 career catches and is now in second place all-time for career reception yardage with 2,336 yards.  Kowan Scott of Wilson is the leader with 2,602 yards from 2008-10.  Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh leads the league with 144 career catches but now drops to third in career yardage with 2,330 yards.  Eli Redmond has 39 catches for 559 yards and 7 td’s.  The 39 catches puts him in 5th place all-time at Parkland bumping Clint Dodson (37 in 1996) down to 6th.  Freddie Simmons of Bethlehem Catholic finished the year with 36 catches for 703 yards.  He’s the 13th Golden Hawk to have 700 yards receiving in a season.

THE PAST AND THE PRESENT:  Senior, Kareem Williams of Parkland currently has 2,395 career rushing yards and 29 td’s.  Older brother Andre had 2,872 yards and 47 td’s in his 2 year career at Parkland from 2008-09.  Kareem needs 84 yards rushing to better Andre’s single season best of 1,913 yards in 2009.  Andre had 231 carries for 1,913 yards and 33 td’s while Kareem currently has 233 carries for 1,830 yards and 23 td’s.  While Kareem had 309 yards and scored 4 td’s on 20 carries last week vs Easton, Andre did him one better by rushing for 384 yards and scored 5 td’s vs Central Catholic in 2009.  Andre is now a senior at Boston College and leads the nation in rushing yardage with 2,073 yards.  He has five 200 yard games including a school and ACC record 339 yards vs North Carolina State.  In his last three games, Andre has rushed for 897 yards and 6 td’s while Kareem rushed for 648 yards and 9 td’s in the three playoff games.  Coincidentally, neither Williams brother has caught a pass this year.
