RUSHING: Niko Petrone of ESS scored 6 td’s in the first half against Scranton last week.  Petrone who has scored 5 td’s in a game four times before, finally owns the single game record by himself after breaking the tie with Jerry Alspach and James Mungro.  He now has 29 td’s for the year and 60 for his career.  Niko went over 2,000 yards for the season (2,015) and 4,000 yards for his career (4,208) and sits in second place at ESS behind Mungro’s 8,432 yards.  Corey Castillon of PME scored a td in the loss to Nazareth to finish the season with 20 td’s, putting him in 4th place at the school for a single season.  District leader Ryan Heim of Pine Grove finished the season with 2,025 yards and 29 td’s.  Heim finished his career with 3,232 yards and 43 td’s.  Schuylkill Haven’s junior William Casella continues to pile up yardage and now has 1,682 yards and 26 td’s on the year.  Nick Savant of Saucon Valley rushed for 260 yards against Jim Thorpe to become the Panthers single season and career all-time leader.  Savant has 1,871 yards this season to break Eric Kuester’s record of 1,868 yards set in 2007.  His 3,348 career yards breaks Joey Killar’s record of 3,299 yards that he had from 1993-95.  Northwestern’s Harry Hall had his third 200 yard rushing game last week and now has 1,514 yards on the year.  Hall moved up 2 spots, ahead of Joe Fatzinger and head coach Josh Snyder into 2nd place all-time at the school for a single season.  Brett Snyder holds the record with 2,376 yards that he set in 1995.  Hall has 18 total td’s this year, good enough for 6th place at Northwestern, one better then Ty Cunningham had in 2011.  Michael McDaniel of Bethlehem Catholic scored 4 td’s last week (3rd time this year) and now has 23 on the season.  Dylan Mahmod of Mahanoy Area had 8 carries for 68 yards and a td last week to up his yearly totals to 1,547 yards and 26 td’s.  Mahmod also went over 2,000 yards in his career and now has 2,034 yards and 34 td’s.  Ra’Von Burton of Catasauqua scored 3 times against Pen Argyl last week and is now in the “40 td” club.  Burton has 42 career td’s.  Jordan Gray, a junior from Nazareth, scored 4 times last week vs PME to up his career total to 55 td’s.  He needs 3 td’s to break Chuck Dibilio’s school career record 57 td’s.  Cole Barnhardt of Williams Valley broke the school’s career rushing and td records.  Barnhardt joins the “3000 yard” club with 3,075 yards and now has 46 td’s.  Justin Bender held the old rushing record with 2,854 yards (2001-03) and Owen Daniel had 45 career td’s from 2010-12.  Gerald Douglas of Stroudsburg went over 2,000 career rushing yards and now has 2,074.  Christian Gretzinger of Palisades is 73 rushing yards away from 2,000 in his career.  Kyle Bambary of Easton ran for a career high 260 yards last week and now has 907 yards on the season.  Jim Thorpe’s Ryan Saunders set the all-time single season rushing record at the school.  Saunders who played wide receiver until this year, moved to quarterback and rushed for 1,570 yards and 17 td’s.  Shane Edwards held the record when he ran for 1,375 yards in 2010.

PASSING: Catasauqua’s Zack Bradley threw for 276 yards and 4 td’s last week to up his season District leading totals to 2,022 yards and 31 td’s.  He squeaks by Jordy Miller by 1 yard into second place at Catty.  Bradley is 111 yards behind his own school record of 2,133 yards and is tied with his own school record of 31 td passes in a season.  Bradley also went over 4,000 yards for his career and now has 4,242 yards and 62 td passes.  The 62 td passes put him in 7th place all-time in the District as he moved by Dan Persa (Liberty), Ric Schumacher (Notre Dame), Anthony Casiano (Pius X) and Dan Kendra III (Bethlehem Catholic).  Travis Edmond of Southern Lehigh now has 1,650 yards passing this year which breaks his brother’s school record.  Ty had 1,637 yards in 2011.  Luke Hohenstein of PME threw 2 td passes against Nazareth to tie the 39 year old single season school record of 15.  Gary Linn threw 15 td passes in 1974.  He finishes in 3rd place for single season yardage, trailing only Evan Fardella’s sophomore and senior years.  Nick Cook of Northampton threw for 267 yards and 2 td’s last week against Boyertown.  Cook now has 3,356 career passing yards and now needs 56 yards to break Eric Spadt’s school record.  Spadt threw for 3,411 yards from 1993-95.  Brandon Leap of Pleasant Valley finishes his career with school records of 4,606 yards passing (27th in the District) and 47 td passes (24th in the District).  Jeff Charles of Whitehall moves into 4th place at the school for passing yards in a single season with 1,641 yards.  Stephen Sedesse of Williams Valley started at qb for the first time in several games (injury) to throw 2 td passes and finally break the tie with Cole Ciesnolevicz for career td passes.  Sedesse now owns the record with 44.  Frank Dangello of Northwestern needs 44 yards passing to break Roland Kern’s single season record of 1,163 yards (2002) and needs 67 yards to break Kyle Stelmack”s career record of 2,276 yards (2006-08).  ESS freshman quarterback Jake Cirillo went over the 1,000 yard passing mark and now has 1,011 yards and 12 td passes.  Wilson’s Michael Glovas was the second highest freshman with 890 yards.    NOTE: Zack Bradley of Catasauqua is 5th in the State with his 31 td passes.
RECEIVING: Paryss Marshall caught nine Bradley passes for 137 and 2 scores last week to up his season totals to 57 catches for 1,050 yards and 14 td catches.  All 3 are school records now.  Matt Andrews had 46 catches for 952 yards in 1996 and Marshall broke his own record of 13 td catches that he set last year.  He leads the District in all 3 categories.  RJ Sarajian of PM East caught 6 passes to break the single season record by one.  Sarajian finished with 49, one more then Lamont Tillery had in 2010.  Tilley still holds the single season yardage record with 735.  Sarajian ended with 724 yards.  Del Priore also went over 2,000 yards for his career and now has 2,090 yards.  Kevin Cruz of Pleasant Valley ended the season with 39 catches for 603 yards.  That’s good enough for 3rd and 4th place all-time at the school.  Teammate Nyiem Navarez caught only 17 passes this year, but 6 of them went for td’s.  He scored 6 other times this season on 4 interceptions, 1 punt return and 1 kick-off return.  Jacob Del Priore of Southern Lehigh is tied with Jeff Smillie for the Spartan single season reception record with 55 and needs 83 yards to break Smillie’s single season yardage record of 892 set in 2010.  He moves into 9th place all-time in the District in reception career yardage with 2,134.  He bumped Panther Valley’s Fenton Black to tenth (2,125 yards) and is 23 yards behind KJ Williams of Liberty.  Nick Oyer of Pen Argyl finished the season with 24 catches for 674 yards and 8 td’s.  The yardage puts him in second place at the school behind Tyler Germano’s 726 yards (2000).  Oyer’s 8 td catches is a school record, surpassing the old record of 6 established by both Germano and teammate Kenny Watts (1999 & 2000).  NOTE: Marshall is 6th in the State with 1,050 receiving yards.

THE PAST AND THE PRESENT:  Nick Savant has scored 5 td’s in each of the last 2 games to tie the 58 year old school record that Walt Schmidt set vs Schwenksville in 1955.  Schmidt would score a school record 16 td’s that year and Ned Wagner would rush for 1,227 yards and score 11 td’s.  In the same game vs Schwenksville, Wagner had 4 td’s called back for penalties.  Wagner became Saucon Valley’s first 1,000 yard rusher.  Savant now has 26 td’s this season breaking Wayne Marish’s 45 year old record.  Marish scored 21 td’s in 1968 while becoming the Panthers 3rd 1,000 yard rusher.
