Tight playoff race has teams scrambling

In the world of politics the underdog is putting pressure on the favorite after an unexpected debate victory. Will the race for a high school football playoff berth find the same result? The next few weeks will answer the question for both politicians and football teams. If the season ended today Ridley, Central Bucks South, Downingtown East, Plymouth-Whitemarsh and West Chester Rustin would be the top five contenders in the District One AAAA race to glory.

If your school is part of the D-1 AAA playoff race Pottsgrove, West Chester Henderson, Academy Park, Interboro and Springfield lead the way. These rankings are sure to change as the next three weeks will determine the final standings.

Week six predictions went perfect as this future teller went 5-0 as St. Joseph Prep, Central Bucks South, Ridley, Interboro and West Chester Rustin all won as predicted.

The last six years the prognostication record stands at 287-110 while going 20-5 for the 2012 season.

This seventh week of the season offers another great set of games for local fans to check out.

In the Philadelphia Catholic League AAAA for the second week in a row powerhouse St Joseph’s Prep will host equally talented division rival LaSalle. The undefeated Explorers are led by QB Chris Kane last week as he accounted for 238 passing yards and four TD’s for 35-7 win over Father Judge.  They will face a more difficult task this weekend when they take on the undefeated St Joe Hawks. The Hawks will need standout performances from running backs Vince Moffett and Olamide Zaccheaus to keep close in this one. St Joseph Prep had to play on an emotional high last Friday to beat Archbishop Wood 23-10. However that won’t be enough against the game tested Explorers.

LaSalle  30  St. Joseph Prep  27

The rest of this week’s fearless forecast:

Springfield  37  Penncrest  13

West Chester Rustin  27  West Chester Henderson  21

Central Bucks South  35  Pennridge  31

 Conestoga  21  Strath Haven  13
