Running back/wide receiver D’Andre Swift of Saint Joseph’s Prep is the only player from Pennsylvannia to be named to MaxPreps.com preseason sophomore all-american team.

Last year as a freshman D’Andre Swift rushed for 635 yards on 113 carries and four touchdowns. He caught 33 passes for 424 yards and five touchdowns.

“He can accelerate and change direction and he can run through you,” said Gabe Infante. “He gets stronger as the game goes and if you are tired at the end of the half, he is impossible to tackle. His lower body is so big.”

He has offers from schools like Delaware, Iowa, Penn State, Rutgers, Syracuse Temple and Virginia Tech.

Don’t sleep on LaSalle. Saw their skill kids during the 7/7 season and was wildly impressed with their size and speed (and they were missing two top receivers). I have watched them since 2007 and this is BY FAR The Most Skill & Speed LaSalle has ever had at 1 time on Offense. If Shurmur stays healthy it will be scary the numbers he will put up. Meachum (RB) will have better numbers than Swift. LS only loses to Prep if Shurmur gets hurt. Prep is an excellent team but without Martin I dont see them beating LS when it counts. LS wins Catholic League this year no doubt about it! Get to Prep/LS games this year because LS O vs Prep D will be a top notch class in area. LS schedule is toughest in Pa this year, Prep’s is #2.

  2. Rollie Ciffo says:

Jim, If Swift can stay healthy and on track, he’ll probably be a 5 star recruit by the time he’s a senior. He has it all, speed, size, vision, hips.

SJP looks to be tough. If they can replace Martin at QB hoo boy!!

The Phila Catholic League is so tough. Archbishop Wood, returning AAA state champ, has almost everyone back too. They might win States again as convincingly as 2011 when they beat Harrisburg Bishop McDevitt 52-0.

  3. Jim says:

    Congrats D’Andre!

Man is that SJP team stacked! Nobody in Pa. will be able to play with them this season.
