The fifth week of the 2008 season featured several upsets of high ranked teams.  Two top ranked teams in Ed Thomas’ Southeastern Pa Top Ten went down to defeat at the hands of very tough opponents. St Joe Prep suffered a defeat to Catholic League rival LaSalle and Glen Mills lost a Del Val League showdown with Interboro.

Over the last two seasons a little bit of observation and a lot of luck have allowed this writer a prediction record of 105-36. This season has also been kind with a 14-6 run on the line coming into the fifth week.

It is possible that this weekends games will be played in rain and wind as a storm is predicted to be running up the east coast. In the Central League the big game will feature Ridley at Upper Darby. Both clubs enjoy a 4-0 record and have designs on a playoff berth as well as a league title. The Royals will depend on running back Chris Green to carry them to an upset. However the Green Raider defense will be just too well prepared.

.Prediction:    Ridley  14  Upper Darby  7

Academy Park’s Coach Jason Vosheski will have his team ready to rebound from last week’s loss to Great Valley.

Prediction:   Academy Park  20  Chester  8

Downingtown West faces one of the best teams with a 1-3 record for 2008 in West Chester East. The Whippets will be guided well by quarterback Bret Gillespie to keep their undefeated record in tact.

Prediction:    Downingtown West  23  West Chester East  6

Here is the rest of the fearless forecast:

Prediction:    Haverford High  13  Strath Haven  6

Prediction:    Springfield  18  Marple Newtown  7
