Cedar Cliff’s upset of former No. 15 Bishop McDevitt (Harrisburg) shuffles the bottom half of this week’s High School Football America Pennsylvania High School Football Top 25. CC pops into the rankings that are created with our proprietary algorithm at No. 23, while McDevitt falls to No. 24.

Aside from Cedar Cliff’s entrance into the statewide ranking, Cocalico, which owns a 31-21 win over Cedar Cliff in Week 2, makes its debut at No. 22.

Cocalico’s Top 25 ranking will be tested this week when it faces No. 9 Manheim Central in a Lancaster-Lebanon League Section 2 showdown. In all, there are four head-to-head matchups in our Pennsylvania Top 25 this week.

Aside from Cocalico vs. Manheim Central, No. 3 Pine-Richand squares-off with No. 13 Pittsburgh Central Catholic, No. 18 Garnet Valley plays No. 20 Springfield-Delco and No. 21 Central Dauphin takes-on No. 25 Harrisburg.

Don, D-East is #23 in the state rankings on Max Preps, and considering that they haven’t played anyone yet after getting bounced in mid-November last year, I’d say #17 is generous. Meanwhile, D-West went 5-5 last year and also hasn’t played anyone yet, so just you mentioning them in a top 25 comments board is generous IMO.

Archbishop Wood is living off of old glories and ranked too high everywhere. Nice team, but they lost to McDonogh and looked mediocre doing it… and then McDonogh proceeded to lose to Berks Catholic and Malvern Prep the following two weeks in unimpressive fashion. I’d probably flop Wood and Malvern Prep.

    Decent list, though, overall.

  2. Don Pryor says:

Seems like the 2 Downingtown teams are under-appreciated. D-West not even on the list and D-East at 17 — wow.
