Parkland

The defending “AAAA” PIAA runners-up have a solid cast of characters returning to Allentown.  Nine defensive starters return in 2008 from a unit which pitched a scoreless streak of 28 consecutive quarters.  Only one other PIAA affiliate had a 20-quarter scoreless streak last season.  Jaleel Clark is a stud wide receiver and free safety for the Trojans, who should be considered the favorites to repeat at District 11 champions.  The only question marks, if you can call them that, is who the new quarterback will be and who will step up in the backfield to aid Daryl Herod in the Jim Morgans’ Delaware Wing-T scheme?

Trash talking from D2? They’ve got a long way to go to get to D11 level, at the top and overall. I’m a DV graduate and see lots of D11 football, will be at St Joe’s Prep / Parkland game, and can say D11 football is light years ahead of D2 football.

The D2 AAAA programs have been improving the past few seasons. Del Val, WVW, and Hazleton should all have solid teams this year. But ranking Hazleton above Parkland? I don’t see that. Parkland returns a lot from a team which played for a state title, and Jim Morgans their coach is very experienced at coaching teams in the state playoffs.

One of the top AAAA D2 teams may have a shot at winning a district title this year, but they need to show that they can before they gain greater respect.

Hazleton returns a lot, but they also lost some of their key players. Losing their QB, TB, FB, both starting LBs, and their fine K will be a lot to replace. They have a lot of linemen returning, but late last year and especially in the playoffs they were basically a one man wrecking crew, but with him graduating those are some big shoes to fill.

parkland this year can’t even hold a candle to hazelton or valley west on their bad days

  4. drew says:

Garnet Valley is going to get man handled in quad a plus the only reason they did good last year was because they had over a million kids on their team and a half decent running back….WVW, Del Val and Hazleton will dominate any d- 11 teams..

  5. D1 says:

Parkland will have no answer for Garnet Valley’s Tim Keyser and Jared Bonaquisti in the state playoffs

  6. Joshua "too fast" Pollitt says:

  9. bigrothy says:

  10. frank c says:
