NTL Week 2 in Review and Picks

I will begin to due my weekly Pick ’em NTL panel every week! This article will include what NTL games have been played to this date. Here are the only Week 2 recaps at this time:

Troy 24 vs Hughesville 7

– In what was in my mind the biggest suprise of the season, Troy steamrolled over Hughesville 24-7. QB Havens to Roote and Wright was the connection as those three along with the rest of the Trojans made it look easy. Hughesville never was in an offensive groove and could only keep the pesky Trojans out of the endzone for so long.

Athens 48 vs CV 0

– Athens took to the ground and air in a convincing win over Cowanesque 48-0. The win puts the ‘Cats at 2-0 for the first time in 3 years. Cowanesque looks to bounce back next week.

Wyalusing vs SW , Montgomery vs Wellsboro, and Canton vs North Penn will be played tonight. Towanda vs Elmira (NY) has been cancelled.

Week 3 Predictions

Canton at Sayre. This game could be better then many think. The revampd Sayre ground game will put up a fight vs a pesky Warrior team. Ben Pepper has to be on target and open up the passing for Canton to be successful. I like Canton in this one, but by a point or two. Canton 24 vs Sayre 22

Wyalusing vs Muncy. Boy, the Small School Division wil be treated with some dandys this week. This one should be another nail-biter. Two areas devastated by the flood will have the week to prepare for each other. This game has a big title impact. Wyalusing lost a heart-breaker to Athens last week, that heart will break a little more. Muncy 14 vs Wyalusing 13

Athens vs Troy. See now, a week ago I would of thought this would be a cake walk for Athens. In the words of Lee Corso, “not so fast my friend.” Troy has a short week, and they beat Athens. Troy 22 vs Athens 14

Wellsboro vs Cowanesque. This is a fun one every year. Somebody is going to come away with a win in the NTL large School. Ben Shaw was my pre-season offensive POY. It was a shoot-out last year, I’ll call it again. Wellsboro 40 vs CV 30

North Penn vs SW. SW is back on the rise, but North Penn is a tough tough team. They will have a short week, but Dehavens to Delgado will be the deciding factor. Hey, their D is pretty good as well. North Penn 34 vs SW 14

Jersey Shore vs Towanda. This is the only non-NTL match-up of the week. Jersey Shore is a young team on the rise. Towanda didn’t play a game last week and may be rusty without some practice. But, if Sites is on it will get ugly in a hurry. Towanda 41 vs Jersey Shore 15
