Maxwell Football Club Announces the 2010 Mini-Max Winners

Maxwell Football Club President, Ron Jaworski, announced the sixty (60) players to be honored as Mini Max Award Winners as selected by the Club’s High School Advisory Committee. The Mini Max Award is presented to football players in the Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey region who exhibit excellent academics, outstanding football performance and a strong commitment to community service.

The Maxwell Club will select one player from this group of sixty to receive the Club’s prestigious Jim Henry Award as the regional Player of the Year. Past Jim Henry Award winners include current Carolina Panther linebacker Dan Connor (Strath Haven H.S., Penn State), eight-year NFL veteran Shawn Wooden (Abington H.S., Notre Dame) and current standout quarterbacks Pat Devlin (Downingtown East H.S., Delaware) and Dan Persa (Bethlehem Liberty H.S., Northwestern). Several winners have gone on to become successful coaches in the high school or college ranks.

The Maxwell Football Club has presented the Jim Henry Award since 1984 and has honored high school football players in the Philadelphia area since 1937. The winner of this year’s Jim Henry Award will be announced at the Maxwell Club’s High School Awards Dinner which will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at Drexelbrook Caterers in Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.

Jaworski offered the following thoughts on this year’s group of honorees. “This year, we had an extraordinarily high number of applications for the Mini-Max Award. That shows both the quality and quantity of some of the region’s outstanding student-athletes. These young men are already leaders on the football field, in the classroom and in their communities. It is the Maxwell Football Club’s privilege to recognize yet another exceptional class of winners.”

Tickets for the Maxwell Football Club High School Awards dinner can be purchased on the Club’s website www.maxwellfootballclub.org or by calling the Maxwell Club at #215-643-3833.  The awards dinner is open to the public.
