Lebanon OL commits to Pitt

The Pitt Panthers added an offensive lineman from Central Pennsylvania to its 2010 recruiting class Tuesday.

 

According to reports on Rivals.com and PantherLair.com, Lebanon’s Arthur Doakes verbally committed to Pitt Tuesday evening.

 

Prior to committing to Pitt, Doakes also had offers from Rutgers, Syracuse, Buffalo, and Troy.  Virginia, West Virginia, Boston College, UCONN, Michigan State, and Notre Dame showed interest, but did not extend an offer.

 

Doakes’ verbal commitment to Pitt is listed as a “solid verbal,” which means that he will not be accepting offers from any other schools.  Players who verbally commit, but still accept offers from other D-1 programs generally are labeled as “soft verbals.”

 

Verbal commitments are non-binding, and Doakes cannot sign a letter of intent with Pitt until early February, at the earliest.

 

Doakes is a 6’6, 350-pound behemoth, who will be one of the stalwarts on the 2009 Lebanon Cedar line.  Last season, Doakes provided blocking for a powerful Lebanon offense that averaged close to 400 yards of offense and over 30 points per game.

 

Lebanon competes in Section 2 of the Lancaster-Lebanon League.
