Imhotep Charter advances in Class 4A playoff win over Valley View

SLATINGTON – Tykee Smith rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns leading Imhotep Charter past Valley View 37-9 in the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class 4A playoff game at Bulldog Stadium at Northern Lehigh HS Saturday afternoon.

Imhotep Charter will face Bethlehem Catholic, out of District 11, who are coming off a 58-20 victory Friday night over District One power Pottsgrove.

Imhotep came out and scored two touchdowns in the first quarter. Jalen Sutton-Christian hit a wide open D’Shaun Seals for a 23-yard score. Smith broke a tackle at the line, made a move, and darted 88-yards to the end zone. After one quarter, the Panthers led 13-0.

The Panthers made it 19-0 on a Seals to Yusuf Terry 47-yard pass for the score. Valley View got good field position after a fumble by Imhotep. The Cougars had to settle for a field goal. Cam Ceccotti nailed a 27-yard field goal. Imhotep’s Smith added his second rushing touchdown of the first half. At halftime the Panthers led 25-3.

The Panthers Symear Williams went in untouched from 11 yards out in the third quarter and Sutton-Christian connected for the Seals again. This time Seals caught the screen pass and went 12 yards for the score with 5:13 left in the third quarter.

Valley View scored the last touchdown of the game. Janaasah Boone hit Dylan Howanitz up the middle for the 20-yard strike.
