DISTRICT 11 HISTORY:

Earlier this season Pottsville Nativity played 3 games in 8 games.  With a scheduling conflict, they played a game on Wednesday in-between playing on the weekend before and after.  It’s been done before in the District with teams that play on Thanksgiving and are in the playoffs.  But have you ever heard of a District 11 team playing 2 games in back to back days?  Well, Pine Grove did exactly that in 1975 and both games were on the road.  The “Grovers” as they were called back then lost to Juniata on Friday night, October 3rd by the score of 10-8.  On Saturday they traveled to Weatherly and lost again by 2 points 14-12.  They were down 14-0 and scored td’s in the 2nd and 3rd quarters.  Brett Hardenstine scored a td and tossed a td pass to Bob Krammes for the other.  The following year Hardenstine a qb, would lead Pine Grove with 800 yards rushing and have rushing td’s of 73, 75, 82 and 92 yards.  He also had a 76-yard kick-off return and a 98-yard interception td.  Hardenstine would go on to play for Temple from 1978-80.  The Krammes name would show up again at Pine Grove from 2006-08.  Lee Krammes would set school records at the time with 79 career catches for 1363 yards and 16 reception td’s.

On September 19th, 1969 Northampton plays their 1st-night home game vs an odd opponent at the time.  They defeated Notre Dame 35-14.
