Manheim Central star defensive end Dakota Royer will make his verbal committment to a Division-1 college football team July 30, according to Manheim Central head coach Mike Williams.

Williams made the announcement during an interview at the Berwick 7-on-7 and Big Man Challenge.

Royer had pared his list of schools from over 20 suitors to just five – Penn State, Pitt, Michigan State, Notre Dame, and Oregon, but Rivals.com now lists Oregon among the schools of “low” interest.  PSU, Pitt, MSU, and ND are the only schools now listed under “medium” interest on Royer’s Rivals profile.

Royer had a second solid season on defense, racking up 81 tackles and 11 sacks.  But he broke out offensively as a receiver threat, too, and he hauled in 56 passes for 1,099 yards and five touchdowns in Central’s high-octane, spread offense last year.

Royer, a four-star defensive end prospect, is listed at 6’3, 221 pounds, and runs a 4.66 in the 40-yard dash.
