Comets’ Rally to Get by Hazleton

The Comets win their fifth consecutive game following tonight’s come from behind victory at Hazleton, 33-13. Crestwood trailed 13-0 midway through the second quarter; however, the Comets’ scored 33-unanswered points to put the Cougars away.

In the opening frame, Hazleton’s Jeff Fendrick scored on two separate touchdown runs (1, 8) to give the cats a 13-0 advantage early.

Then, Crestwood mounted a comeback as Jay Popson found Kota Kishel on two different occasions for a touchdown strike (53, 24) to tie the game at 13 after three periods.

The fourth quarter was all Crestwood. Frank Aigeldinger scampered for two scores in the final stanza including a 96-yard dash to seal the victory with 3:01 remaining in the game.

Crestwood has delivered wins in ten of their last twelve regular season contests. Coach Greg Myers’ bunch has now knocked off the Cougars in back-to-back years after suffering three straight losses at the hands of Hazleton.

The Cougars drop to 1-5 and are 0-3 at home this year.

Next week, Hazleton welcomes Dallas while Crestwood travels to Pocono Mountain West.
