Coaches comments:

How’s your offensive line?

“On the offensive line I have left tackle Tyler Trobetsky back and Brandon Purrone is my returning left guard. We have our returning center from last year and he is Rhaine Sziy. Jared Nosal is back at right tackle. We return four of the five lineman from last year. These guys are competing for playing time on the line. Satchel Stauffer has looked pretty good this summer. Jared Stephens is working hard this summer. Rey Paulino probably has more size than most of the kids and he is doing well and Isaiah Berry is in the mix. We have some depth at the line this year.”

You return a lot of experience at quarterback position. Talk about Zach.

“Yes, we return Zach Bradley. He is a smart player and has a strong arm. He can throw in tight spots. He is a good leader on the field. The kids respect him. He distributes the ball well. We need to have balance out there. He is capable of running, but we don’t run him. His strength is in the pocket. He has great feet in the pocket and can move around if he has to.”

How’s your running game look?

“We have our leading rusher back and he is Ra’Von Burton. Devin Flores is a guy that will share some playing time this year. Mike Shutta will add depth to the running back position.”

How are your receivers?

“Paryss Marshall is back at receiver. We also have Jacob Stopay back at receiver. Jacob has had a great summer for us. Ricky Houser has been working hard for us. He is a tall kid that will see action. Derrick Bond will play at tight end. Jacob Kober will be in the mix and give some of our guys a rest.”

How’s your defensive line?

“We lost all three starters on the defensive line from last year. We have one guy that has some experience coming back and he is Brandon Purrone. Satchel Stauffer, Rey Paulino, Isaiah Berry and Jared Stephens are in the mix on the defensive line. Paulino is a kid that could add some size to the line. He has looked good this summer.”

Who will play linebacker for your team?

“We have Jared Nosal back at linebacker. We also have Rhine Sziy returning. I have Devin Flores back at outside linebacker/strong safety type. Ra’Von Burton started games for us in the beginning of the year. But he had a high ankle sprain and we played him one-way. He will be making his return on defense and be a two-way guy for us. He is a guy that started several years for us on the defensive side for us.”

How’s your secondary?

“I have Jacob Stopay back at the corner back position, and Paryss Marshall is back at free safety. We have to replace one corner position. Two guys that will split time as of now are Ricky Houser and David Wetherhold. Both guys have looked good in camp.”

You had a tough loss in the District Finals to Pen Argyl. What did you take from that loss?

“We played one bad half the entire year. Our kids played at a high level last year. I told the kids on day one this year that that was last season and it was great but this is a new chapter. This is your team now and what are you going to do? The hardest thing was to forget what happened last year. We know its going to be different this year. People are going to be gunning for us. We have a target on our back this year. We have to have a different mind set this year. Not winning that district title has made us hungry. That is one of the goals we have this year, winning the district title. They have seen a lot of silver and I keep that silver metal in my pocket every day to remind me and the kids. So we have so much motivation.”
