Head coach Pat Keating Q&A

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. Our offense should be very good again.  We return eight starters on a unit that averaged just shy of 45 ppg last year.

Our key players will be:

Brady Davison QB- Saw limited action as a junior behind Mike Baur (Lehigh University), but is an intelligent, strong-armed quarterback that is capable of putting up big numbers.

Eric Acosta (RB)- Just shy of 1,000 yd junior season

Jermichael Bunch WR- Returning WR who won 3 district gold medals in track as a junior.

LJ Wesneski TE/WR- At 6’3″ 230 he will be a very big matchup problem when flexed out.  He’s very athletic and has excellent hands.  He will only be a junior and received a lot of interest from division 1 schools at camps this summer.

Chris Reese TE- Another 6’3″ 230 TE that brings a physical presence up front

AJ Iorio (C) and Jared Kozich (OG) are returning 3 year starters that will anchor the offensive line

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?

A. Defensively we return five starters.

Our key players are:

Bill Davison ILB- 6’1″ 210.  Led team in tackles as a sophomore

Jeremy Kozich- 6’1″ 225. Returning starter.  He’s very physical.

Chris Reese DE and Jared Kozich DT are returning starters that will anchor the defensive line

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?

A. Special Teams will be solid.

Sean Judge returns as a punt returner.  Returned 2 punts for TD’s as a freshmen last year.

Ian Ultsh returns as a kicker.  Made 66 straight PAT’s last year.  Has made 69 in a row dating back to his sophomore year.

Bill Davison returns as punter.

Judge, Bunch, and Acosta will be back as kick returners

Key Stats: 43.8 PPG

2014 Outlook: This years’ group is a very dedicated and intelligent group of kids. The junior and senior classes are both deep in talent. Eight players return to an offense that averaged over 40 ppg last year.

While many may think the loss of Mike Baur (QB Lehigh University) and Mike Sands (1,000 yard receiver) may slow the offense down, Brady Davison and the returning perimeter players of Jermichael Bunch, LJ Wesneski, and Sean Judge, along with four starters back on the offensive line, are more than capable of putting up even bigger numbers than last year.

The defense needs to replace six starters, but both ILB’s (Bill Davison/Jeremy Kozich) return as do Defensive Linemen Chris Reese and Jared Kozich, so it gives us a nice nucleus to build around.

Last year we dropped a heartbreaker to Easton 35-34 when we opted to go for 2 to win the game. This year we expect to compete for a 2^nd straight District 2 AAAA Title and the right to advance through the 2/4/11 Sub-regional.
