morrisvilleHead Coach Derrick Savage Q&A

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. On offense we will look to get the ball in our playmakers’ hands and try to create mismatches to gain advantages.  Senior Justin Young-Heyward will be the main ball carrier.  He is a returning starter from last season, though he missed time with injury.

Junior Michael Sacco will step in as quarterback.  He is a good leader and has shown the ability over the summer to control the offense.

Junior Anthony MacIntosh and Sophomore Braedon Alward will be the wide receivers.  Junior Donovan O’Brien will be used in a variety of roles including half back and wide out.

The line is made up of Seniors Nathan Vincent, center, Jon Cosme, guard, Jordan Neal, tackle, Maksym Loshkayou, guard, and Junior Vincent Maroney, tackle, with sophomore Joe Jacobs as the tight end.

Depth is a concern overall but especially on the offensive line.  Hopefully Freshman Zaïre Merritt can provide some depth at the guard and tackle position if needed.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?

A. Defensively we will use a variety of fronts to again put our players in positions to use their talent and have an impact.  Key players on defense will be Young-Heyward at linebacker, Alward at corner, and O’Brien at Safety.

We will use a rotation approach to our defensive line with everyone sharing snaps.  Jacobs and Cosme will be two of the ends counted on to stop the run and generate a pass rush.

Linebacker is a bit of a question mark as there are still two spots up for grabs during camp.

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?

A. O’Brien, Freshmen Isaiah McDavidson, Junior Zymiir Williams and Young-Heyward will all return kicks.

O’Brien and Cosme will share punting duties.

Senior Noah Charest will be our kicker.

Jacobs will be the long snapper.
