Head Coach John Donnelly Q&A

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your offense?

A. We return running back Alex Gibson who rushed for 1236 yds, 7.15/carry, 11 receptions, and 20 total TD’s in only 7.5 games in a terrific sophomore season.

David Gressgott returns from a broken leg last season to join Gibson in the backfield.

Connor O’Keefe will fully transition from wide receiver to quarterback (he was our back up quarterback last year). Connor had 12 receptions for a 20 yd average and he also handled the punting duties.

Alex Jordan (Bucknell commit) will anchor the offensive line.

Look for AJ Ventresca, Ethan Silverman, and Logan Nelsen to have big years catching the ball.

Our offense is up-tempo and runs multiple sets. We averaged 25.5 ppg last year.

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your defense?

A. Aside from Alex Jordan up front, our linebacker corps is the strength of our defense.

We return three of our top five tacklers from last year.  Three of our linebackers are also returning, all league players led by Connor Pattyson (1st team), Jack Lamb, and Chris Krier.  Danny Mantell will be the 4th LB in our 3-4 scheme.

We will be much improved in the defensive backfield with Owen Griffin, George Pla, and Myles King rotating at Cornerback.  Tommy Strasburger, Keith Becker, and Matt McKenny will be doing the same at Safety.

 

Q. What are the key things we should know about your special teams? Who are your kick and punt returners? Who are your kicker and punter?

A. O’Keefe will handle the punting duties.  Ollie Boucher returns, as our kicker, but sophomore Barney Amor will challenge.  Kick and punt returners will be Alex Gibson, Ethan Silverman, AJ Ventresca, David Gressgott, Myles King, and Tommy Strasburger.
