Starting experience: He has been a starter at running back since his sophomore year. He played some defense last year.

2013 Stats: He rushed for 875 yards on 129 carries and 12 touchdowns. He caught 32 passes for 424 yards and three touchdowns.

He had two interceptions on defense.

2013 Highlights: Against Roman Catholic he rushed for 148 yards on eight carries and one touchdown.

Honors: 1^st Team Class 4A All-Catholic at MP

 

Coaches Q&A with Gabe Infante:

Q. What are his strengths at running back?

A. He’s more of a slasher type runner and has great speed. He can catch the ball and has the best hands on the team. He’s a very patient runner and has great vision and can accelerate. He can get from 0 to 90 faster than anyone we have.

We like to put him in the slot and he’s a very good route runner. He’s a nightmare for a safety to cover and is great in open space. He makes plays.

He’s very explosive and has great body control. His ability to separate from people underneath is exceptional. He can get away from you quickly.

 

Q. What are his strengths on defense?

A. We play him in certain situations because of his athleticism. When he’s out there it is to lock up a receiver and is a physical corner.

 

Q. How’s he as a kick returner?

A. He’s a threat to score every time he gets the ball. He had that big return his sophomore year against LaSalle in the championship game.

We have three great players back there that most teams really don’t kick to us and most poach the ball.
