Coaches Q&A with Matt Bauer:

Q. What kind of leader is he?

A. He has really grown into a nice leader at a young age. He’s going to be the first junior captain I have ever had on my team. He has all the intangibles, he works hard and leads not only verbally, but by example.

Last year, he was our on the field leader without the official title. He would speak up when he had to. As soon as this season ended I automatically named him captain of our team.

He has done an exceptional job leading our team in the offseason.

Q. What are his strengths as a lineman?

A. He’s got tremendous feet and is aggressive. He’s a hard nose kid and naturally gifted. He’s the type of kid you get to coach once in a lifetime.

He’s a very good run blocker and pass blocker. He works hard and each week you can see he’s getting better and better.

Q. What are his strengths as a defensive tackle?

A. He’s a very good run stopper and pass rusher. He was named All-State on defense as a sophomore.

Q. What is he doing in the offseason?

A. He’s been going to a lot of camps and working with us four days a week. He has been working on his speed, agility and strength.

Schools of Interest: As of 6/24 he has offers from Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, Temple, Tennessee and Virginia
