On a day when the snow was falling hard you had to throw out your playbook. It was time to go back to basic football.

That is what Lancaster Catholic did. The Crusaders held off a tough Loyalsock Township team and grinded out a 19-13 win to advance to the PIAA Class 2A semifinal game.

Quarterback Kyle Smith hit Quinn Houser twice for touchdown passes. Houser caught a nine-yard and 39-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter.

Smith would throw his third touchdown of the game. He hit Tyler Purvis for the 16-yard score.

Lancaster Catholic (13-1) plays West Catholic (12-2) in the Eastern Finals. West Catholic eliminated Lancaster Catholic 37-14 in the semifinal game a year ago.

With the snow swirling, West Catholic shut down North Schuylkill the second half and held on for the 19-14 win.

Brandon Hollomon led the way in rushing with 74 yards on 17 carries. Brian Mosby added 38 yards and one score.

Quarterback Jarred Evans passed for 130 yards and one score. Most of the 130 yards came on a 76-yard pass to Quran Kent.

West Catholic had 130 yards passing and 124 yards rushing.

West Catholic (12-2) plays Lancaster Catholic (13-1).
