District 2 Talk Week 3

Berwick

The Bulldogs relied on their running game in the second half to break a halftime tie. Alec Ladonis scored a pair of third quarter touchdowns in a 39-21 win over Wyoming Area.

Lou Hampton rushed for 117 yards and a touchdown. Ladonis rushed for 115 yards.

Berwick (3-0) hosts Wyoming Valley West

Wilkes-Barre Coughlin

Coming into the game everyone was talking about Wilkes-Barre GAR’s offense which is averaging 446 yards rushing per game and 33.5 points per game. But the talk this night was the Coughlin defense that led to the 14-3 win over GAR.

Matt Shimshock rushed for 81 yards and Joe Parsnik rushed for 59 yards.

Quarterback Mike Kearney passed for 85 yards, including a 60-yard pass to Derrick Harold.

The most impressive stat was the Coughlin defense which held the Grenadiers to 105 yards rushing and 150 total yards of offense.

Wilkes-Barre Coughlin (2-1) hosts Williamsport.

Dunmore

Michael Perry and fullback Frank Santarsiero combined to rush for 364 yards as Dunmore defeated West Scranton 31-14.

Perry rushed for 240 yards on 23 carries and three touchdowns. For the season he has 683 yards and eight touchdowns.

Dunmore plays at Lakeland on Friday night.

Dallas

With 4:38 to go in the game Dallas quarterback Adam Goeringer orchestrated a 13-play 80-yard drive down to the Tunkhannock 24 yard line. With 15.2 seconds to go in the game Goeringer hit Cody Plesnar in the corner of the end zone for the game winning score.

Dallas won 21-14.

Dallas (3-0) hosts Pittston Area next Saturday.

Wallenpaupack

Running back Joe DeFebo rushed for 258 yards on 24 carries and three touchdowns. Wallenpaupack defeated Pocono Mountain East 34-12.

Wallenpaupack (3-0) hosts North Pocono.
