District 2 Talk Week 2

Abington Heights

Abington Heights running game led the way in a 26-7 victory over Wyoming Valley West.

Paul Gallagher rushed for three touchdowns as the Comets rushed for 272 yards on the ground.

The past two weeks the Comets have rushed for 567 yards against Hazleton Area and Wyoming Valley West.

Next week Abington Heights host Valley View at home.

Wilkes-Barre GAR

Junior running back Kurtis Thomas rushed for 208 yards and three touchdowns as the Grenadiers ground game led them to a 48-28 win over Northwest Area.

Wilkes-Barre GAR rushed for 522 yards in the game.

Darrell Crawford rushed for 158 yards including a 58-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Fullback Cody Welgosh had the longest run of the night, a 70-yard run. He finished the night with 135 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Wilkes-Barre GAR plays Wilkes-Barre Coughlin next week.

Hazleton Area

Senior running back AJ Petrone scored on touchdown runs of 71, 6 and 5 yards to lead Hazleton Area over Stroudsburg 39-6.

Petrone finished the game with 131 yards on 12 carries. The Cougars had 289 yards of total offense. Their defense gave up only five first downs and 182 total yards.

Donald Pollitt had a pair of touchdowns for the Cougars including a 65-yard touchdown reception.

Hazleton Area hosts Pleasant Valley next week.

Dunmore

Playing on soggy turf Dunmore cruised to a 33-9 win over Carbondale.

Running back Michael Perry rushed for 261 yards on 33 carries and four touchdowns. Perry had 166 yards at halftime.

Dunmore goes to 2-0 and they host West Scranton next week.

Wallenpaupack

Senior running back Joe DeFebo rushed for 236 yards and five touchdowns as Wallenpaupack rolled to a 39-19 win over East Stroudsburg North.

With his performance DeFebo now has 3,537 yards rushing and 49 total touchdowns for his career.

Quarterback Erik Kraft only attempted eight passes and completed two for 21 yards.

Fullback Taylor Newcomer rushed for 124 yards on 14 carries and one touchdown.

Wallenpaupack (2-0) travels to Pocono Mountain East next week.

    Ya!! why nothing about berwick.. they put up 71 and only alowed 6 in 2 games

    y no info on western wayne ,they put up 69 points in two games ,beat #10 ranked susquehanna 34-0 left them with 8 plays in the whole 2nd half
