HERSHEY – Farrell’s running back Christian Lewis rushed for over 250 yards and five touchdowns leading the Steelers to a 55-20 win over Lackawanna Trial on Thursday afternoon. Kyi Wright added two rushing touchdowns and threw one touchdown pass to Jordan Townsend.

This is Farrell’s third PIAA Class 1A state title and the first one since 1996 when they won back-to-back championships. They finished the season 15-0 and 13 of the victories came by mercy rule.

Farrell fumbled the opening kickoff giving Lackawanna Trail short field position at the Steelers 26. Two plays later Ray Melnikoff went in from 11 yards out. With 11:23 left in the first quarter, they led 7-0.

Just like that Farrell tied the game up at seven. Christian Lewis broke several tackles at the line and cruised 40 yards for the score.

After a missed field goal by the Lions, Farrell took over on their two yard line. The Steelers drove right down the field for a touchdown. Lewis scored from 20 yards out with 1:20 left in the first quarter. He added his third touchdown of the game on their next drive. He went 53 yards for the score and Farrell led 21-7 with 8:55 left in the first half.

The Steelers’ Juwon Samuels recovered a fumble and a few plays later Jourdan Townsend scored from 18 yards out. Kyi Wright added a 56-yard touchdown run to make it 34-7 Steelers. Once again, Wright found the end zone. Wright added a short touchdown run and Lewis ran in for a two-point conversion. With :38 seconds left in the first half, it was 42-7. At Halftime, the Steelers led 42-7. They had ripped off 42 unanswered points in the first half.

The Steelers began the second half like the first half. Farrell scored again and guess who? Lewis scored from seven yards out. He added his fifth touchdown of the game, a 29-yard run early in the fourth quarter. It was 55-7 Steelers.

The Lions added two late touchdowns. Melnikoff went in from nine yards out and Jordan Edwards scored from four yards out.
