Delco Christian vs. Lower Moreland

Defense wins championships is how the saying goes and tonight proved that for Delco Christian. After what might have been a good drive for the Lions, Tyler Winkis came up big with a pick to put Delco up 6-0. Moore and Monaghan looked good early on for the Knights but got snuffed by the Lions D.

That is when things got interesting. A fumble by Lance Gifford led to Delco Christian regaining the ball. Again a spotty run game for Delco Christian led to a quick drive and change of possession. Shutting down Robin Choi for the Knights was not a problem for Winkis and Haskins, forcing a Lions punt. Andrew Crisanti added his own offense by hitting a 40 yard field goal and that made the score 16-0.

Usually a force on offense, Sam Tascone returned a punt for a touchdown, but only after Mike Monaghan leveled a Lower Moreland defender to create ample space for Tascone to score. After that it was a lot of back and forth with a few mental lapses by Lance Gifford and the Lions receivers which could have led to scores for Lower Moreland High School. Choi would strike gold for the Lions however after he returned a Crisanti punt in the 4th to make the score 16-6. After some good defense and a Gator Grim Interception with a minute and a half left in the game, the Knights improved to 5-0 on the season.

Thoughts and prayers  go out to Ray Winkis, who has been in a very long struggle with cancer.
