In an article published yesterday regarding the recruiting process of Liberty quarterback Anthony Gonzalez, it contained a list of 10 Division-1 football programs .

That list expanded by seven, according to an e-mail from head coach Tim Moncman.

In addition to the original list of 10 schools provided by assistant coach Jim Tkach and Rivals.com, Moncman reports that UCONN, Maryland, and Michigan State have come to Bethlehem to visit the Hurricane quarterback.  Letters or phone calls have been received from North Carolina, Michigan, North Carolina State, and Florida State.

Rivals.com reported that Penn State had extended an offer, but not Pitt.  The word on both Pennsylvania schools from Coach Moncman’s e-mail is that both the Panthers and Nittany Lions have made verbal offers to Gonzalez, but only Pitt has extended an offer in writing.

Expect the list of suitors to keep expanding for Mr. Gonzalez – the senior-to-be totaled over 3,200 yards of offense and had a hand in 36 touchdowns.  He was named the Associated Press “AAAA” Player of the Year and was a 1st-team All-state selection.
