Wilson Area Focused on Growth as Warriors Build Toward Brighter Days in 2026

A new season brings a renewed sense of optimism for the Wilson Area Warriors.

After enduring a difficult 1-10 campaign in 2025, head coach James Brady and his staff are focused on laying the foundation for a turnaround. While last season’s record wasn’t what the Warriors envisioned, the experience gained by a young roster and the return of several key contributors provide hope that Wilson Area can become a much more competitive team in the Colonial League’s Division 2 race.

The Warriors closed last season on a positive note by defeating Belvidere (N.J.) 18-14 for their lone victory, giving the program momentum heading into the offseason.

Veteran Backfield Leads the Offense

Wilson Area returns one of its biggest strengths in the backfield.

Senior running back J’son Johnson is back after rushing for 528 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. Johnson is already one of the most accomplished defensive players in program history, becoming just the 16th Warrior to surpass 200 career tackles. He enters his senior season with 204 career stops and will once again be the emotional leader of the team.

Junior Ryan Bonham emerged as another reliable ball carrier last season, rushing for 478 yards while accounting for five total touchdowns. Bonham also made 48 tackles as a sophomore, proving to be one of the team’s top two-way performers.

Senior H-back Marvin Cordon gives the Warriors another experienced offensive weapon capable of contributing as both a blocker and runner.

The biggest addition to the offense could be junior Connor Patterson, who is expected to take over behind center. Patterson flashed his defensive ability last season by recording two interceptions in just three games and now looks to provide stability to the offense.

According to Coach Brady, the success of the offense begins up front.

“The key to our offense being successful this year will depend on the offensive line creating running lanes for J’son Johnson, Ryan Bonham, and Connor Patterson.”

Junior guard Cayden Lozada returns after gaining valuable experience last season, while newcomers Randell Monroe, Daniel Kinsella, Max Vinson, and freshman Richard Davis Jr. will compete to rebuild the offensive line following the graduation of several key linemen.

Wilson will also look for increased production from senior receivers Jayden Rapoli and Christian Samayoa, along with newcomers Ohani Colon, Dion Willis, Bryson Wolf, Jahiem Gayle, David Spence, Sawyer Ruest, Karmello Drayton, and tight end Wyatt Yetter.

Defense Returns Experienced Leadership

The Warriors’ defense will once again revolve around an experienced linebacker corps.

Johnson, Bonham and Cordon all return after leading the defense last season.

Johnson’s 204 career tackles make him one of the area’s most experienced defenders, while Cordon added 50 tackles and three fumble recoveries in 2025. Bonham continues to develop into one of the program’s most complete two-way players after contributing 48 tackles as a sophomore.

Coach Brady believes that group’s continued development will determine how much the defense improves this fall.

“The key to our defense being successful this year will depend on the continual growth of the returning linebacking crew of Ryan Bonham, J’son Johnson and Marvin Cordon.”

The secondary returns senior cornerback Jayden Rapoli, senior strong safety Christian Samayoa, senior defensive back Christian Torres-Ochoa, and Patterson, who showed excellent instincts by recording two interceptions in limited action last season.

Up front, junior Cayden Lozada anchors the defensive line alongside sophomore defensive end Jayce Richline. Newcomers Randell Monroe and several talented underclassmen should provide added depth and competition.

Special Teams

Senior Vincenzo Viscomi returns to handle both the kicking and punting duties, giving Wilson an experienced specialist entering the season.

My thoughts on Wilson Area Season

Wilson Area enters 2026 with a roster that blends experienced seniors with a promising group of underclassmen.

Improving the offensive line will be the biggest priority as the Warriors look to establish a productive running game behind Johnson and Bonham while helping Patterson settle into his new role at quarterback.

Defensively, the experienced linebacker trio gives Wilson a solid foundation, and continued growth from the younger players could allow the Warriors to become much more competitive each week.

The win-loss record from 2025 doesn’t tell the entire story of where the program is headed. With veteran leadership, increased depth, and another offseason under Coach James Brady’s staff, the Warriors will look to take meaningful steps forward and begin climbing the Colonial League standings throughout the 2026 season.

2026 Defensive Outlook: The key to our defense being successful this year will depend on the continual growth of the returning Linebacking crew of Ryan Bohnam, J’son Johnson and Marvin Cordon.

Tunkhannock Banking on Ground Game and New Identity Heading into 2026

The Tunkhannock Tigers enter the 2026 season looking to take the next step under head coach RJ Haas.

After finishing 4-6 in 2025, the Tigers return one of the Wyoming Valley Conference’s top running backs while introducing a new offensive system and several fresh faces throughout the lineup. With a revamped playbook and a commitment to physical football, Tunkhannock hopes to become a more consistent contender in the WVC Division 3 race.

Supported by coordinators Garry Kroll Jr. on offense and veteran defensive coordinator Jason Majiros on defense, the Tigers are embracing a philosophy built on toughness, discipline, and winning the line of scrimmage.

Ciprich Headlines a Run-First Offense

Everything offensively starts with junior running back Lucas Ciprich.

After rushing for 808 yards and nine touchdowns last season, Ciprich returns as the centerpiece of the Tigers’ offense. His ability to run between the tackles and break explosive plays gives Tunkhannock a proven workhorse to build around.

Sophomore Moses Montero adds another weapon after contributing 220 rushing yards and three touchdowns as a freshman, giving the Tigers a talented one-two punch in the backfield.

Coach Haas says the offense will lean heavily on its experienced running backs while a new offensive line develops.

“With a whole new playbook, we’ll lean on our most experienced position group this season, running backs. With junior Lucas Ciprich returning after an 800-yard rushing campaign in 2025 and sophomore Moses Montero returning, we look to be a run-first team.”

Establishing the ground game will be critical behind a completely rebuilt offensive line.

Junior guard Owen Rose returns as the lone experienced offensive lineman, while the rest of the unit will consist of new starters looking to gain valuable experience.

The passing game also enters a new era.

Sophomore Tye Cokely earned the starting quarterback job after winning a preseason competition over an upperclassman. He inherits the position after Zach Latwinski threw for 642 yards and five touchdowns last season.

Coach Haas believes Cokely’s development will be one of the biggest keys to the Tigers’ success.

“We’ll need him to step up in a big way this year to really open our offense up.”

Senior Carter O’Neill returns as the team’s leading receiving threat after totaling 188 receiving yards and one touchdown in 2025 and should become Cokely’s primary target.

Defense Looking to Set the Tone

The Tigers want their defense to reflect three defining characteristics.

“Fast, Physical, Tough.”

Those are the pillars Coach Haas and defensive coordinator Jason Majiros have emphasized throughout the offseason as they prepare for another rugged Wyoming Valley Conference schedule.

Stopping the run will be the primary objective in a conference filled with physical rushing attacks.

Senior Brandon Carter returns at cornerback after demonstrating excellent athleticism throughout his career and is expected to lead a talented secondary.

Coach Haas believes the defensive backs can become one of the strongest groups in the conference.

Along the defensive front, Owen Rose returns at defensive tackle to anchor the interior, while the linebacker corps will play a major role in limiting opposing rushing attacks.

With several new contributors stepping into larger roles, Tunkhannock hopes its aggressive, disciplined approach will allow the defense to build consistency throughout the season.

Special Teams

Special teams remain a major emphasis for the Tigers.

Replacing graduated kicker Callum Jerome will be one of the team’s biggest offseason challenges, but Ciprich returns as the starting punter to provide experience in the kicking game.

Coach Haas stresses that winning the hidden-yardage battle can often determine close games.

“We will continue to put a heavy emphasis on special teams, as one bad or good special teams play can significantly shift the momentum of a game and have a massive impact on the result.”

My thoughts on Tunkhannock season

Tunkhannock enters 2026 with a clear identity.

The Tigers want to control games with a physical rushing attack led by Lucas Ciprich, while allowing a young quarterback to grow within a balanced offensive system. Defensively, speed, physicality, and discipline will be the foundation as they attempt to slow down the run-heavy offenses throughout the Wyoming Valley Conference.

Replacing four key graduates, rebuilding the offensive line, and breaking in a new starting quarterback present significant challenges. However, with a proven running game, experienced leadership on defense, and a coaching staff committed to establishing a tough, physical culture, the Tigers have the pieces to improve on last year’s four-win season.

If the offensive line develops quickly and the young playmakers mature throughout the fall, Tunkhannock could emerge as one of the more improved teams in District 2 Class 3A.

Brandon Carter has shown his athletic ability at corner throughout his career, we expect our defensive backs to lead the way this year and be atop of the WVC. Eyes will be on our LBs and Defensive Line to stop the run.

Veteran Leadership Gives Radnor Hope for a Bounce-Back Season in 2026

The Radnor Raptors enter the 2026 season looking to turn experience into victories.

After finishing 2-9 in 2025 while navigating one of the toughest schedules in the Central League, head coach Drew Devitt believes a veteran senior class can help the Raptors take a significant step forward. Radnor returns several of its top offensive playmakers and defensive leaders while looking to develop new contributors in key positions.

The Raptors showed flashes of their potential last season with impressive shutout victories over Harriton (35-0) and Conestoga (40-0). Now, the challenge is finding the consistency needed to compete every week in one of District 1’s deepest conferences.

Senior-Led Offense Ready to Take the Next Step

Experience will be the biggest strength of Radnor’s offense.

The Raptors return an accomplished group of senior skill players led by wide receivers Miles Davis, Hendrick Bleyen, and Ryan Chess.

Davis emerged as the team’s top deep threat in 2025, hauling in 20 receptions for 500 yards and five touchdowns, averaging an impressive 25 yards per catch. Chess added 22 receptions for 250 yards and three scores, while the 6-foot-4 Bleyen contributed 20 catches for 275 yards and two touchdowns, giving Radnor one of the more experienced receiving corps in the Central League.

At tight end, senior Aidan Swindells and senior Kris Duncan provide versatility as blockers and pass catchers, while junior Michael Muntean and senior Tyler Rath anchor the offensive line.

Coach Devitt expects the senior class to set the tone.

“We will rely on the senior returners to lead, as several new faces will fill holes on offense.”

With proven playmakers already in place, the development of the new starters will go a long way toward determining how quickly the offense finds its rhythm.

Defense Built Around Veteran Playmakers

The Raptors also return several impact defenders who should provide stability on that side of the ball.

Senior linebacker Adam Krafczek headlines the defense after recording 56 tackles, four tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions and a forced fumble last season. His versatility and ability to create turnovers make him one of the leaders of the unit.

Senior defensive end Aidan Swindells enjoyed an outstanding junior campaign, totaling 68 tackles, seven tackles for loss, two sacks, three forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a blocked field goal. His production and physical presence give Radnor an anchor along the defensive front.

The secondary features another experienced leader in Hendrick Bleyen, while Miles Davis returns at defensive back after contributing on both sides of the football.

Up front, juniors Michael Muntean and Chris Basciano provide size and experience on the defensive line.

Although several new players will step into starting roles, Coach Devitt believes discipline and sound fundamentals will define the defense.

“We will look to gel early, as several new faces will fill holes on defense. We look to play disciplined and fundamentally sound football.”

Special Teams

Bleyen returns as Radnor’s placekicker after converting 15-of-16 extra points last season.

While the kicking game has an experienced leader, Coach Devitt notes that newcomers will be filling several special teams roles, making that phase of the game especially important during the early part of the season.

My thoughts on Radnor

The foundation for improvement is in place.

Radnor returns an experienced senior class filled with proven contributors at the skill positions and several impact defenders who have already demonstrated the ability to make big plays. The biggest question entering the season will be how quickly the new starters at several positions develop and how well the team comes together early in the schedule.

If the offensive line continues to grow, the experienced receiving corps can make the passing game one of the team’s strengths. Defensively, the leadership of Krafczek and Swindells should help the Raptors remain competitive while the younger players gain experience.

Competing in the Central League is never easy, but with veteran leadership and a roster eager to improve, Radnor has the pieces in place to make 2026 a season of steady progress and position itself for a return to contention in District 1 Class 5A.

Pocono Mountain East Looks to Build on Historic Breakthrough Season

History was made in 2025 for the Pocono Mountain East Cardinals.

Under second-year head coach Dustin Thomas, the Cardinals posted the first winning season in school history, finished with a school-record 8-4 mark, captured both of their rivalry trophies for the first time since 2019, and advanced to the District 11 Class 5A championship game. Although the season ended with a 35-24 loss to Whitehall, the rapid turnaround has transformed the program into one of the rising teams in District 11.

Now entering 2026, expectations have changed. Rather than hoping to compete, the Cardinals are looking to prove last season was only the beginning.

Building on a Historic Foundation

The progress made under Thomas and his coaching staff has been remarkable.

Just one year before reaching the district championship game, Pocono Mountain East suffered a 49-7 playoff loss to Whitehall in the semifinals. Last season, the Cardinals closed that gap dramatically, battling the Zephyrs into the fourth quarter before falling by just 11 points in the district title game.

Along the way, East defeated both Pocono Mountain West in the “Pride of the Mountain” rivalry and Stroudsburg in the race for the “Old Oaken Bucket,” marking the first time the Cardinals swept both rivalry games since 2019.

While several record-setting seniors have graduated, the foundation of the program remains firmly in place.

Serfass Leads Experienced Offense

Senior quarterback Ceejay Serfass returns after one of the finest seasons by a signal caller in school history.

In his first year as the starting quarterback, Serfass established school records for passing yards and passing touchdowns, providing stability and explosiveness to the Cardinals’ offense. His experience will be invaluable as East replaces several of its top receiving threats.

The Cardinals graduated standout wide receiver Justin Williams, who surpassed 1,000 receiving yards and will continue his career at East Stroudsburg University, along with versatile tight end Connor Triano, who set the school record with 11 receptions in a game against Stroudsburg and will play at Lycoming College.

Despite those losses, East returns an experienced supporting cast.

Senior running back Evan Garrett returns to anchor the rushing attack, while senior wide receiver Kevin Davis and senior Blake Martin will be expected to assume larger roles in the passing game. Senior transfer MJ Bolinger and junior Walter Wade provide additional weapons as the Cardinals reload their receiving corps.

Perhaps the biggest strength of the offense is up front.

The Cardinals return their entire offensive line, led by seniors Johnny Pezzuti and Dyron Kelley along with juniors Preston Melton, Zakai Chambers and Mason Brown. Junior Alex Judd and sophomore Michael Leager add quality depth to a veteran unit that should give Serfass plenty of protection while opening running lanes for Garrett.

Defensive Front Returns Intact

Defense became a calling card for Pocono Mountain East in 2025.

The Cardinals finished first in their division in both scoring defense and total defense, and much of that success returns.

Every defensive lineman from last year’s championship team is back, giving defensive coordinator Bobby Fox one of the area’s deepest defensive fronts entering his third season directing the unit.

Senior Leo Fernandez, David Louis-Jean, Johnny Pezzuti and Dyron Kelley headline a group that also includes juniors Preston Melton, Zakai Chambers and Mason Brown. The ability to rotate fresh bodies throughout games should keep the Cardinals physical deep into the fourth quarter.

Junior fullback/linebacker Dean McCarthy returns in the middle of the defense, while newcomers Walter Wade and sophomore Ben Surovcik are expected to strengthen the linebacker corps.

Although the Cardinals must replace standout defenders Justin Williams, Connor Triano, Bobby Ehrmann and Connor McCarthy, the experience in the trenches gives East a solid foundation to remain one of the top defensive units in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference.

Special Teams

Senior Lucas Angst returns to handle both kicking and punting duties, giving the Cardinals an experienced and dependable specialist in the kicking game.

My Thoughts on Pocono Mountain East season

Replacing several school-record-setting skill players is never easy, but Pocono Mountain East has positioned itself for sustained success.

The return of record-setting quarterback Ceejay Serfass, an experienced offensive line, every defensive lineman from one of the league’s best defenses, and a coaching staff that has rapidly elevated the program gives the Cardinals plenty of reasons for optimism.

The biggest challenge will be identifying new playmakers at wide receiver and in the secondary. If those positions develop quickly, Pocono Mountain East has the talent and experience to once again challenge for the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Mountain Division title and make another deep District 11 Class 5A playoff run.

One thing is certain: after making history in 2025, the Cardinals are no longer a surprise. They enter 2026 with the expectations—and the roster—to continue building one of the fastest-rising programs in northeastern Pennsylvania.

2026 Outlook: The Cardinals are coming off their first winning season in school history, as well as the best record in school history finishing 8-4. The Cardinals won both rivalry games this past season (The Old Oaken Bucket & The Pride of The Mountain) for the first time since 2019. East made it to the PIAA 5A Championship game and lost to Whitehall 35-24. Just one season prior, the Cardinals faced Whitehall in a Semi-Final game and lost 49-7. The improvement in just two years behind new Head Coach Dustin Thomas and staff is easy to acknowledge.

To go along with such a stellar team season, many individuals broke school records of their own including 1,000 WR Justin Williams who will be continuing his college football career at East Stroudsburg University. Connor Triano, a swiss army knife for the Cardinals last season, also notched his name in the record books with most receptions in a game with 11 vs Stroudsburg last year and will be continuing his football career at Lycoming College. The Cardinals will be without many big name skill players this upcoming season so many questions will remain unanswered until this Fall where we will see if the Cardinals can match their major overhaul of building a consistent winning program.

While many big stars will be missed, Quarterback Ceejay Serfass will be returning under the helm. In his first season at QB last year, Serfass broke the school record for Passing yards and Touchdowns in a single season. With his experience and an entire offensive line who will be returning, the Cardinals and Serfass will be in good hands. All defensive lineman will be returning as well, and with many pieces to rotate in along the defensive line, East will be looking to improve on their defensive efforts which landed them #1 in points allowed and team defense in their division in 2025. Going into his third season as Defensive Coordinator, Bobby Fox will look to stay consistent and find some missing pieces to complete his defense.
