Senior fullback Jared Bonacquisti and running back Tim Keyser are ready for their senior year of football at Garnet Valley. Last year both Jared and Tim had a phenomenal year for the Garnet Valley Jaguars getting all the way to the State Championship game in Hershey, PA. Entering their senior year they both want to get back to Hershey, and win.
Tim Keyser said last year was “unbelievable”. “To have my teammates come up as big as they did last year was great. It really was special to all of us to make it that far; it certainly was memorable to me.” Keyser did have a season to remember. Last year Tim Keyser rushed over a hundred times for 1,200 yards and fifteen touchdowns. He also caught the football for nearly eight hundred yards along with six receiving touchdowns.
The best aspect of his game is speed. Keyser can run a “4.5 Flat” he said in a 40 yard dash. Running with that kind of speed Keyser has the defense spinning their heads. Tim said “In the off-season I have worked on my speed to try to become quicker for this season.” Keyser also talked about how much time he has spent training to improve his ability to run with the football. With the Garnet Valley Jaguars moving to AAAA this year, Keyser said “It’s going to be a lot tougher than last year but we’re going to be focused and ready for a different level of football.” He also commented about being a leader “I am definitely ready to be a leader on this team, just like the leaders we have had in the past.”
Last year Tim Keyser was named as an All State player. With this upcoming year being his last season as a Jaguar, Keyser said how he would love to win a State Championship. “I think we’re going to have a good season, with a lot of guys coming back from last year we should have another great year.”
Fullback Jared Bonacquisti who ran for nearly 900 yards and scored 23 touchdowns said, “Last year was a great season, both from a team and personal perspective. We were able to accomplish a great deal and put Garnet Valley football on the PA map. Personally, it was a season I will remember forever, it taught me a lot of things and the memories are fantastic. It was really amazing to see the entire community unite around GV football.” Bonacquisti said, “In the off-season the Jaguars had two mini-camps, lifted and ran three times a week. I trained to improve my speed and increase my strength.”
When asked about his leadership ability, Bonacquisti replied, “Over the past three years there have been excellent examples of leadership for Garnet Valley football. Matt McHugh, Shane Eachus, Drew Kravitz and Eric Van Wyk were great examples. If we can follow what they started, and model them, we will be ok.” Bonacquisti also said how much more of a challenge the AAAA classification will be this year while entering the Central League. “We have a tremendous amount of respect for the Central League and we look forward to the weekly challenge. The Southern Chester County League was very competitive and the Central League has for many years produced some great teams.”
Since moving up to the AAAA classification the seniors know this season will be more demanding than last year. The Jaguar seniors Tim Keyser and Jared Bonacquisti said how ready they are for this upcoming season, and they are both ready to fulfill their goals and the team’s goals as they play their last year as a high school football athlete at Garnet Valley.
