The Springfield Cougars and Garnet Valley Jaguars square Friday at 7 pm at Moe DeFrank Stadium in a pivotal Central League Showdown.

Lets Take a closer look at the Teams

The Last Meeting: Last Seasons meeting of these two teams was an offensive shootout with Jaguars prevailing on the road 42-41 with a controversial call on an extra point being the difference. In that game Jordyn Bennett carried the ball 11 times for 125 yards.

Cougars on offense: When the Cougars they ploy perhaps one of the best three headed rushing attack in the state with Quarterback Cam Durham and Running back Rob Murphy having the ability to break a long run at anytime and Fullbacks Mike Dougherty and Adam Krauter who can grind out the tough yards for the Cougars who enter Friday nights contest averaging 278 rushing yards per game. In last weeks 41-38 overtime victory over Upper Darby Murphy ran wild posting 202 yards on just 8 carries and 2 touchdowns. While Dougherty provided the game winner for the second time this season.

Jaguars on Offense: When the Jaguars have the ball they also have a dangerous rushing trio of Runningbacks Jake Irving,and Bennett along with Quarterback Ryan Corkery. Corkery is coming off season surgery to repair a tore ACL has rushed for 176 yards this season while Bennett has 174 and Irvin leads the team with 471 yards.

Cougars on Defense: The Cougars defense is led by Dougherty who has a total of 43 tackles this season an average of 10.8 per game from his linebacker spot. Dan Smyth (36,9.0) leds the secondary in tackles while the Cougars also been getting soild play at the linebacker position from Krauter (24,6.0) The Cougars defensive line is anchored by Jeremy Cavanaugh(23, 5.8) Dan Ketler (19,4.8) Vince Marra (18,4.5).

Jaguars on Defense: When the Jaguars are on Defense they are led by Dalton Mayberry 25 tackles, Steve Elf ,Andrew Grzybowski(24), Ryan Van Horn(22) and Tyler Shankle(19)

Cougars Special Teams: The Cougars have one the best kickers in the Central League at their disposial in Brad Lord who has made 14 extra points. The Cougars also have dangerous return men in Durham,Murphy, Tony Roberts and Barry Foster all of who have the ability to change the game with a big return.

Jaguars on Special Teams: Brandon Dowd has converted 16 extra points for the Jaguars> Returnman Wellington Zaza a Strath Haven transfer and a track champion is a major threat for the Jags back deep.
