northeastpafootballFor the second straight year, Pittsburgh based Red Zone Media in conjunction with the Scranton based NPF Network will broadcast the 2013 PSFCA East-West All Star Game on May 5th from Downingtown West High School in Downingtown.  A pregame show will be aired at 1:45 p.m. and kickoff is set for 2 p.m.  The game can be heard online at http://www.redzonemedia.com, https://www.easternpafootball.com and http://www.westernpafootball.net. The broadcast can also be heard on all smart phones and tablets using the free Tunein app and searching for Red Zone Media Channel 10.  The game will also be archived for future listening.

The East-West game got its start when members of the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Associationredzone approached the Allegheny Mountains Convention & Visitors Bureau to help organize and produce a sister game to the Big 33 Game. The Big 33 Game features the top players in the state against players from Ohio. Unfortunately only 34 players can be selected to represent Pennsylvania, and in a state with a rich football tradition many quality players are left out. Thus, the PSFCA East West All Star Game was conceived giving the honor to play in a statewide, prestigious all star game to 68 more players

The East-West game had been an annual occurrence since 2001 until 2011.  The game wasn’t played that season because of changes to NCAA rules.  The PSFCA brought the game back last year at Gateway High School in Monroeville with the West winning 45-24.  The game site will alternate from East to West each year.  The first ten games were played in Altoona.

Children’s Hospital of Pennsylvania is the primary sponsor for the event.  For more information including rosters, click here.  Ellwood City’s Don Phillips will coach the West team while Downingtown East’s Mike Matta will coach the East squad.
