Deion Barnes, one of the Keystone State’s top prospects among defensive ends, had added scholarship offers from Duke and Purdue this week, according to Scout.com, bringing his total number of Division-1 scholarship offers to 13.

In addition to scholarship offers from Duke and Purdue, Barnes also holds offers from Georgia, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Penn State, Pitt, South Carolina, Temple, Virginia and West Virginia. UCONN, Michigan State and Notre Dame have shown interest, but not extended a scholarship offer to Northeast’s 6’4, 225-pound senior-to-be.

Rivals.com ranks Barnes at the sixth-best defensive end prospect and #141 among its list of the top 250 prospects in the 2011 recruiting class. Scout, meanwhile, ranks Barnes as a three-star prospect and the 44^th-best defensive end in the nation for the 2011 recruiting class.

According to stats submitted to Scout.com, Barnes registered 64 tackles (25 tackles for loss), eight sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, a fumble recovery, a blocked punt and a blocked field goal in his junior season.

Barnes was part of a Viking defense that allowed an average of 19.2 points per game, holding three of their final four opponents to seven points or less, with one shutout.
