One of Pennsylvania’s top prospects in the Class of 2011, Oil City tight end Ben Koyack, has already made a verbal commitment to Notre Dame. But there’s another prospect at tight end that’s generating considerable Division-1 interest – Downingtown East’s Tyler Kroft.

Kroft has received eight Division-1 offers to date, according to his profile on Rivals.com. Kroft is a 6’5, 215-pound senior to be for the Cougars, and his 40-yard dash time was clocked at 4.71, according to his profile on Rivals.

Boston College, UCONN, Northwestern, Rutgers, Syracuse, Vanderbilt, Virginia and West Virginia have all extended scholarship offers to Kroft, and schools like Maryland, Notre Dame, Pitt and Stanford are showing interest, but haven’t yet extended an offer.

Kroft was a featured target in the Cougars’ passing game last season, hauling in 36 passes for 667 yards and eight touchdowns, an average of 18.5 yards per reception and 55.6 yards per game. The Downingtown East aerial attack finished the season with more than 1,900 passing yards and18 touchdowns and averaged close to 160 yards per game.

Downingtown East finished 2009 with a 10-3 overall record and averaged 32.9 points per game, reaching the District 1 “AAAA” semifinals before falling to PIAA “AAAA” semifinalist Ridley, 28-7.
