Danville Area
Written by: David Mika on Monday, August 18th, 2008Danville returns a solid passing quarterback in Andrew Shoop and a solid pass-catching tight end in Michael Smith. Shoop threw for over 3,000 yards last season, and Smith very nearly eclipsed the 800-yard receiving mark. This quarterback-to-tight end combination might be a pretty prolific one when all is said and done, and just might draw some comparisons to the Mechanicsburg duo of Zach Frazer and Josh Koontz from the 2004 season. Koontz went over 1,000 yards receiving and Frazer threw for 3,671 yards, the single-season record in the state. Can Danville, though, get the bounces to go their way and finish above .500 in a tough District 4 “AA” field which includes Mount Carmel and Montoursville?
