Abington Heights rally past Scranton

The Comets were down by 21 before rallying for their 9th victory of the season to defeat Scranton, 28-21. Abington Heights closes out the regular season with their third win in a row since dropping a 21-13 decision to Scranton Prep.
Scranton’s five-game winning streak was snapped tonight. The Knights jumped out to a 21-0 lead following a pair of TD runs by Jake McCarthy and a connection from Kyle Piecznynski to Joshua Gonzalez. McCarthy eclipsed the 4,000 yard plateau on the ground in the opening quarter.
Comets’ Nathan Hollander picked off a Piecznynski pass to set up Abington Heights’ first scoring drive which culminated with a Joe Carroll from J.C. Show toss.
Following a pair of Comets’ touchdown runs, Abington Heights’ received a fumble recovery by Sam Radkiewicz returned for a touchdown to take a 28-21 advantage.
In the fourth quarter, Scranton was stuffed in a goal line stand and tossed an interception.
The Comets will play at Scranton Prep next week in the District 2 first round.

Connor Dickinson does not play for Abington.

Sam Radkiewicz recovered the fumble and scored. Connor Dickinson graduated last year
