@78CatFan
I can sympathize with Rob. Berwick, Mount Carmel, and Southern Columbia had great teams to be sure, but I don’t consider them from here (being the Scranton area), and not to speak for Rob, but I think that’s what he meant.

Hey Rob!
Can you say Berwick, Mount Carmel, and Southern Columbia?
December 14th, 2015 at 10:02 pm
I’m from Waymart pa and I just want to say it’s so funny how the talent level from here is so different from the rest of the state no matter how good a team is around here like dunmore or old forge they can never match up with the western pa teams ..

Thanks RevTweak
Well that a shame. Its all about money. Typical of an organization that must have control of everything. Do they really need there hands in the pot. Any to get money for the pension of future and retired union members that don do a dame thing for the state anymore, and really never did.
WHAT A SHAME

@Ray
The problem is money. The PIAA has fees that they charge to broadcasters if they want to broacast the game. I’m pulling all this info from page 47 (page 51 of the PDF) of Section III of PIAA’s Handbook: http://www.piaa.org/assets/web/documents/Handbook%20-%20Section%20III%20-%20Rules%20and%20Regulations.pdf
PIAA Football Live Radio Broadcast Fees (1A/2A):
Preliminary/First Round: $150
Quarterfinals: $200
Semi-Finals: $250
Finals: $300
PIAA Football Live Radio Broadcast Fees (3A/4A):
Preliminary/First Round: $250
Quarterfinals: $300
Semi-Finals: $350
Finals: $400
PIAA Football Live TV Broadcast Fees (1A/2A):
Preliminary/First Round: $1500
Quarterfinals: $2000
Semi-Finals: $2500
PIAA Football Live TV Broadcast Fees (3A/4A):
Preliminary/First Round: $2500
Quarterfinals: $3000
Semi-Finals: $3500
And that’s only the money paid to the PIAA. That’s not to mention the general costs of broadcasting in itself. It’s a lot of money, and generally speaking, the ones broadcasting the games aren’t major media outlets, but the smaller, regional companies.
Want to know why we can’t get any of these games on TV?
Blame the PIAA.

HI Jay. Refresh your browser. It is updated. Thanks!

Dave, it says that the brackets were updated on 11/29 but many of the 11/28 games aren’t included in the updated brackets. For example, LaSalle vs. Gratz. Also, it was a joke that the Archbishop Wood vs. Imhotep Charter game was not on tv somewhere!! Thank, you do a great job my friend!!
December 1st, 2015 at 10:14 am
Why is it that we cant get any of these games on TV. I don’t see anything listed for the quarter final games being televised.I just don’t understand. These HS games have a huge draw through out the season. 3CTV televises them.We get to the playoffs and you cant fine 1 game on TV.
Why is this???

The site information for the Marion Catholic – Bishop McDevitt game was found on Ted Silary’s site. Ted is the guru of Philadelphia high school sports!

Okay. We will fix it. Thanks!

Class A Stadium Aerial for game between Marion Catholic and Bishop McDevitt shows Germantown Academy. Game is being played at the closed Germantown High School. It is now known as Northwest Super Site and located at 1100 E. Sedgwick Street in Philadelphia.

Just curious:
Why does district 12 always have playoff games during the Saturday daylight hours and all others play Friday nights at 7P.M. Don’t use field availability as excuse. Many fields in that area should be available.
November 18th, 2015 at 10:37 am
Hi all. I was told by tonight. The guy who does it has been working a lot. I am sorry for the brackets not being done yet.
November 18th, 2015 at 8:43 am
When will the brackets be updated?
November 18th, 2015 at 12:08 am
Good job on the district’s but will the state brackets be updated before Friday the 20th?
November 17th, 2015 at 1:20 pm
@Mary State College will get the winner of the Brashear-McDowell game. The websites you alluded to are getting ahead of themselves. Games are played on the field, not on paper!
November 17th, 2015 at 10:53 am
Thanks David Mika.
November 17th, 2015 at 10:46 am
Mary
The winner of brashear/McDowell will play state college next weekend
November 16th, 2015 at 4:49 pm
Hi,
Is it possible that State College could play Brashear on 11/27 or 11/28? Most websites say State College plays Erie McDowell but McDowell plays Brashear on 11/20 so wouldn’t State College play the winner of that game? Thanks, Mary
November 17th, 2015 at 10:17 am
Walt02..They are for teams that missed the District playoffs. It gives a team a chance to play two more games and win a title.
November 16th, 2015 at 4:03 pm
What is the Eastern Conference playoffs? And how do you qualify for them?
November 16th, 2015 at 1:59 pm
Are there any updated brackets available?
November 16th, 2015 at 12:46 pm
Hi,
When will the statewide playoff bracket be updated. Thanks, Mary
November 12th, 2015 at 8:39 am
@Lenny & @ PerkValley thanks for the clear up. Just thought it was odd that their points were never updated.
November 12th, 2015 at 8:10 am
@Mill
Bethlehem Liberty’s real point total is 1210, making them even with Freedom. Freedom wins tie-breaker with better record.
November 11th, 2015 at 8:29 pm
My apologies—after recalculating I come up with 1,000 pts. for Liberty.
November 11th, 2015 at 8:23 pm
@Mill & Dave—With regards to #4 Liberty…I believe the stated 860 pts. is incorrect. My calculation comes up with more like 970 pts. for #4 Liberty…

Mill, Not yet
November 11th, 2015 at 8:46 am
@David Mike…were you able to speak to anyone for D-11.
November 10th, 2015 at 9:35 am
I know a lot has been made about D12 being off last week. Not sure it matters to much but I think them being off this week is WAY better then them having a bye right in the middle of the state playoffs like in previous years. But D12 isn’t the only district with byes. There are some strange byes weeks all over the the playoffs….in D10 3A oil city at 6-4 is the only team in the field with a bye. They have That bye over 2 state ranked teams in Conneaut and Erie Cathedral. Very strange. In D3 1a the entire field has off this week as their playoffs don’t start until next Friday….But no one has a worse bye situation then the winner of General McLean/Erie McDowell. The winner of that game will play the D8 champ Brashear. Should they beat Brashear(likely) they would then play the winner of Dubois/State College who you guessed it, would have a bye next week. So a potential to play 2 straight playoff games against teams coming off of byes. That’s a tough spot!
November 9th, 2015 at 8:27 pm
Mill, That is a good question. I will email the D11 guys and see what they say.
November 9th, 2015 at 3:53 pm
Dave
Question for you. Looking at the District AAAA bracket and power points. I couldn’t help but notice that #4 Liberty has 860 pts. Yet #5, #6 and #7 teams all have more points that them. Do you know why this is or not?
November 8th, 2015 at 4:11 pm
