2013 Big School Coach of the Year: Gabe Infante, St. Joseph’s Prep

Gabe Infante has accomplished a lot in just four years as head football coach at St. Joseph’s Prep and it wasn’t easy in the beginning.
Infante took over for longtime coach Gil Brooks. But several starters had transferred out of Prep before the 2010 season and his team finished 4-7.
But in 2011, the Hawks went from a 4-7 record to 7-4 and were led by quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg.
The past two years his record was 22-4.
In his fourth year his team has won their first PIAA Class 4a state title and first Catholic league championship since 2005.
He previously coached Paramus Catholic (NJ) for two seasons as their head coach and was a defensive coordinator at Bergen Catholic (2006-07), Queen of Peace (2003-05) and Memorial High (1997-2002).

Absolutely a well deserved honor for a guy who had to take over a team who lost a ton of his best players to transfer his first season. Still vividly remember his first year with the Prep. The guy kept the faith with all his players after losing his first 5 games while he was being portrayed as a lame duck coach.
What a true man of character through and through.
