Starting experience: He was a letter winner his sophomore year. He was a backup defensive and offensive lineman. He started last year on defense as a defensive end.

2013 Stats: On defense he had 22 solo tackles, 26 total tackles, seven sacks and one fumble recovery

Honors: 2^nd Team SOL National Conference All-League at DL

 

Coaches Q&A with Adam Collachi:

Q. What are his strengths as a defensive end?

A. He’s very explosive. His initial burst off the line is very very good. He’s a good athlete for his size and is able to do things that other kids can’t do.

He really gets after the pass rush and causes a lot of havoc in the backfield at times. He draws a lot of penalties which is as good as or better than a sac. So, I will say his quickness is one of his best assets.

In key spots, he’s a guy that makes big impact plays for us.

 

Q, Do teams try and double-team him a lot?

A. Yes, they do double-team him a lot and teams started running away from him a lot last year. So, we’re going to do something with him this year so teams won’t have that luxury to run away from him this year. He will be all over the place for us.

 

Q. This year on offense he will be playing the H-Back position. What are your thoughts?

A. He has really great hands. He’s a great athlete for a kid his size and has wide receiver type catching ability. He has soft hands.

We’re going to get him out in open space this year and throw to him a little bit and get his big body moving and make plays. He will be a tough kid to tackle.

When we’re not throwing to him, he’s like another lineman out there and is a good blocker.

 

Q. What’s he doing in the offseason?

A. He has lived in the weight room and his numbers and his strength have shot up. He has added 20-pounds of solid muscle this offseason.

He has been working since the day after we lost our playoff game to Garnet Valley.

He’s the first guy to be there and last to leave and has worked really hard and it shows.

 

Q. Final thoughts on Connor?

A. He’s a quiet kid. He leads by example and shows it in his workouts. He’s a guy that does the extra things.

It has been great seeing him mature the last three years. That’s one of the true rewards of coaching, seeing a young kid mature into an exceptional young man and that’s what it is all about.

I am very proud of him.
