Coaches Q&A with Mike McKay:

Q. What are his strengths at running back?

A. His biggest asset is his speed. He’s a pure down hill physical runner. He’s not there to finesse you and has power and will run you over.

He will look and make that one move and take off. He doesn’t shy away from contact.

Q. Are you going to move him around?

A. At times we will line him up in the slot or outside receiver. He has good hands and we are working on that in the summer and on his route running.

He’s a coachable young man. What is special about him is he likes to be in the other positions. He knows it’s an opportunity for him other than running back to do something special.

Q. What are his strengths on defense?

A. His biggest strength is as a downhill tackler in the run game. Also, if we blitz him off the edge, he’s so fast at getting at the player.

Q. What is he doing in the offseason?

A. He’s going to a ton of clinics and combines and is working on the little things to get better. He has gotten bigger, stronger and faster this year.

He’s working at all our 7-on-7s in the coverage schemes. He’s learning different positions. At times we may move him over to corner or free safety.

He’s competing against other kids at camps and it’s a good way to show colleges what you can do.
