OCEAN CITY NJ: The Cardinal O’Hara Lions proved two old sayings true Saturday afternoon when they traveled down to Ocean City New Jersey to take an old rival from back in the Catholic League Southern Division days in the Patriots of Archbishop Carroll. The first saying was that hard works pays off and the second one is defense wins championships The Lions proved them sayings by amassing 398 yards on total offense h while holding the powerful Patriots Wing T defense to just 141 yards of offense 52 of which were passing yards as the Lions cruised to the 35-0 victory.

Offensively the Lions were led by the two headed monster known has Jr. RB Corey Brown and SR Fullback Evan Higgins. The duo combine to rush for 294 yards on 15 carries all five of the Lions carries. “The holes that blockers were providing were huge, It wasn’t hard with the linemen blocking the way they were today” is how Higgins would describe his linemen play. Brown echoed Higgins remarks by saying “The line just open up holes all I had to do was run” and Lions head coach Dan Algeo also echoed his players remarks by saying “I thought they run blocked pretty well.”

Brown wasted no time in getting the Lions on the broad has one of the Lions sixth play Brown with the help of some great blocking by Kevin Lalor, Dennis Mushrush, Andrew Glace, Matt Williams, Jesse Acri, busted through the line from 18 yards out.

Brown would strike again but this time it was on a punt return which he returned from 66 yards out again with tremendous blocking from his teammates “We have a certain way to run and I just looked at it and it was there”

Two possessions later Brown would find his way to the end zone this time he took a draw and showed the thousands in attendance his lighting fast speed has he raced in from 80 yards out to put the Lions up 21-0 at the half. When it was all set and done Brown would finish with 173 yards on 9 and three carries.

The second half started out very much the same way the first half did for the Lions but this time it was Higgins  who shine and he did when he capped six play 65 yard drive with his bulldozer of a run from 18 yards out.

Higgins would find the end zone for a second time this time he combined some nifty moves with his bulldozing running style to punch in from 73 yards out.  Higgins would finish the day with 121 yards on 6 carries.

On Friday the Lions will travel to take on the Bears of Germantown while the Patriots will take on the Conwell Egan Eagles Saturday Night at Radnor
