District 1 Talk Week 7

Pottsgrove

Pottsgrove led 21-14 at half and cruised to a 35-14 win over Owen J. Roberts.

Pottsgrove’s defense shut down Owen J. Roberts the second half.

Quarterback Terrell Chestnut rushed for 122 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns. His final two scores covered 47 and 10 yards in the third and fourth quarter.

Kayvon Greene rushed for 71 yards and Maika Polamalu rushed for 61 yards. Pottsgrove finished the game with 289 yards on the ground.

Pottsgrove (7-0) travels to Methacton.

Avon Grove

On a rain soaked night Avon Grove used smash mouth football to beat Downingtown West 35-21.

The Red Devils rushed for 330 yards on 51 carries. Fullback Brendan McLaughlin led the way with 200 yards and two touchdowns.

Brandon Monk had 88 yards rushing on 7 carries and two touchdowns.

Avon Grove (6-1) hosts Great Valley.

Neshaminy

Neshaminy rode the back of running back Bryan Dean. Dean ran nearly seven minutes off the clock in the fourth quarter and Neshaminy went on for the convincing 42-17 win over Council Rock South.

Dean rushed for 178 yards on 30 carries and three touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 79 yards and another score.

Neshaminy (6-1) hosts Council Rock North.

Bayard Rustin

On a rainy day Bayard Rustin grinded out a 21-0 road win over West Chester Henderson.

Running back Rondell White was held under 100 yards for the first time since 2008. He finished the game with 91 yards on 26 carries and a pair of touchdowns to lead Rustin.

Quarterback Mike Carlin completed three of six passes for 106 yards and one score.

Bayard Rustin (7-0) travels to Kennett.
