O’Hara Runs Pass Wood

OCEAN CITY NJ: Over the pass two seasons Cardinal O’Hara Sr RB Corey Brown has made Ocean City High School’s Carney Field his personal playground consider this in the two previous Boardwalk Bowl Brown accounted for seven touchdowns and on Saturday against the defending AAA Eastern Champions Archbishop Wood Vikings Brown served as one-third of a three headed rushing attack monster that accounted for 374 rushing yards in route to 35-14 victory. “We have three good backs and we have confidence in all of them,” is what O’Hara Coach Dan Algeo would have to say after the game about his backs.

Dempsey got the scoring start on the games opening drive when he plunged in from 8 yards out capping a 6 play 59 yard drive. The big game on a 15 yard pass from Ryan Laughlin to Dan Curry to give the Lions the ball inside the Viking

On Thursday Adam took in the Mayor’s Cup between Temple and Villanova in which Adam’s older brother John set up the game winning drive of Villanova’s 27-24 victory by intercepting a pass in the final minute. On O’Hara’s final drive of the first quarter Adam put a capper to excellent weekend for the Dempseys when he busted through the Viking defense for a 51 yard touchdown. After the game, A. Dempsey gave his credit to his offensive line for his 109 yards performance saying, “Our whole team blocked awesome”

The Vikings would cut the Lions lead in half when Jerry Rahill connected with Kyle Adkins from 9 yards out.

The lions would respond behind the legs of fullback Dan O’Hara and Corey Brown as the Lions drove 60 yards on 5 plays including a 42 yard run by O’Hara that put the Lions down to the Wood 4 yard and on the following play Brown found himself in area he knows well and that’s the end zone. At halftime D. O’Hara had gone over the century mark and would finish with 10 carries for the 102 yards. “We know teams are going to game plan for Corey but they cant just game plan for him.”

The Vikings would pull within 7 when Rahill sneaked his way in from a yard out cutting the Lions lead down to 21-7

In the third quarter the Lions only ran six plays but it was the sixth play that extended it lead to 28-14 when on the second of consecutive 32 yard runs Brown found the end zone for the second time.

From there the Lions turned the ball over to their might tough defense which was led by Laughlin two interceptions, Drew Formica. Brown would cap the scoring with 13-yard reception from Laughlin.

Up next for the Lions is date with Germantown High while the Vikings with Chestnut Hill Academy
